The difference was massive between the 116610 and 1162xx series when I was inside the AD so it occurred to me that the 1162xx had non-AR cyclops

There is a possibility that they were sold with AR and non-AR crystal. If that is true then going for a cheap gen non-AR LEC 25 295c would be an affordable upgrade

I was in an AD today. There was no AR on the cyclops of the brand new blue 116234.

my friend's gen 116234 (early one without rehaut engraving) doesn't have AR crystal

yea... my message was merely helping @ssouthall6 supplement his/her finding because he/she would like to build one that is without 'rehaut engraving'

I'm guessing cos it's period correct and cheaper. I'll be removing the rehaut engraving but using an AR LEC crystal, not period correct but personal preference > OCD in this case [emoji57]

By the way when I removed the bracelet, there are no serial number engraved between the lug. Only the rehaut has the serial number engraved on it

ARF datejust serials are random so it is based on Rolex's random serial series (so unknown exact year)

The Datejust 36 I saw inside my AD has random serial and non-AR crystal. I guess from the general consensus here, you can choose to have AR crystal optionally because both options (I.e. AR or non AR) are period correct (except if you plan to sand the rehaut, then it would suggest D series or even rarer early F series which is way before the prevalent occurrence of AR cyclops in Rolex)

Lolol no worries

From my experience with rolex date disc, there are small production batch variations in the Rolex 3135 date disc - some have thinner fonts and some have bolder fonts e.g. I tend to see bolder 3135 date disc font occurring in the 116622 yachtmaster IMO

Despite that I'm probably still going to sand the rehaut and add AR LEC crystal. The JF rehauts are such a disappointment compared to the rest of the watch. I'll get the loupe out on arrival, still not had my QC from Sead but he knows my eye is well trained and my patience is very high. Nobody needs a crap watch quickly.

IMO the rehaut font looks ok when compared to google and the gen i saw from the AD. It's just that i wished the ARF's rehaut was engraved a bit deeper or darker. I am tempted to sand it as well and see if it's ok to engrave a D-series serial number onto the lug
