Would be such an awesome alternative it turns out to be good

Im not really a fan of plating even if it is just on the bezel, tends to wear too fast with daily wear

I never use the lume either but I am so used to seeing datejust hands with that lume-filled rectangle inside the hands. Seeing a lume-less Roman dial with blank lume-less hands somehow looks weird to me lol

I think you can get away with using the older 162xx "SWISS MADE" lume-less roman dial, but the "OYSTER PERPETUAL" words on the 162xx dial look bolder than the modern 1162xx roman dial. Other than that, everything else looks fine. I have seen those older 162xx "SWISS MADE" lume-less roman dial for 150 pounds on ebay before

For £150 i could take the plunge. You sure only the font of OP is bolder?

Arf band should be very good I've read. Rather have gen dial and xtal.

Thats why i mentioned: “people who take it to the max” lol.

They are good ARF, but its never going to compare to a gen.

My ideal list:
-Gen dial
-Gen crystal
-Gen DWO

i just checked ebay and it appears that the one i saw for 150 pounds is sold unfortunately

I think the 116234 has thinner "oyster perpetual" font than the 16234. I noticed this observation since nearly a year ago when I was building a Datejust II with a gen dial - i noticed the Datejust II uses thinner font for some batches and bolder font on other batches

I'm falling in love with him... I'm comparing gen pics and the only things that upsets me is the rehaut engraving.
The gen engraving is another planet of course... but apart this is stunning!

Looks much nicher asthetically anyways and is period correct for the earlier 6 digit dj's

Who gives a damn anout the engravings? Writing rolex ovwr the rehaut is just annoying

Yes, I completely agree, I hate the rehaut engraved!
But this DJ model was available exaclty like this without engraved rehaut? In other words, would be period correct?

yup the early 2005 ones don't have rehaut engraving

I do not think that without rehaut engraving and these ARF dials it was period correct.
If removing rehaut than use other dials from early 116xxx DJ. Then better use Stick Marker dials from 2006-2007.
But the rehaut engraving on the ARF is an improvment compared to BP DJ.
I think to make it a bit more “shine“ could help to look more to Gen (but do not know how)
The ARF is quite a good base for modding with a few parts to a great Franken.

Yup, D-Series seems to be one of the Series' that do not have the rehaut engravings.

I believe nearly all modern Rolex with rehaut engravings have serials engraved on the rehaut AND between the lug. The only exception to this rule is the DSSD and the Datejust II
