Im in too !

It doesnt seem the bezel would be that hard to do, it looks very similar to the one on the Ploprof. Do they make clear ceramic ? if they do, it shouldnt be that big of a deal. If they dont, im sure a glass or sapph bezel could be made to look like this, id think.....matte surface, lume and paint underneath

Angus bought the gen to talk to the ZF factory (who's making the BB) about making the Pelagos. The bracelet factory has come back and said that to make the bracelet would cost about the same as building the rest of the watch in total. So you'd be looking at a production cost of at least $500 upwards not including maker and dealer profit margins. It's debatable whether that's an economical production figure given the gen is actually very reasonable in price.

500 is still less than 2800 for a used gen. They made the sosf and that gen is less than 2k used, rep is 250

500, excluding various margins that make the price go up in the meanwhile !

I'll buy the gen, then. Rep not worth it at that price

Honestly I think the price would be closer to AP ROO and Hublot than anything else. I really don't think it would be economical for the maker. They said they might make it if the BB sells well, which it should do.

ZF said the bracelet would be the most expensive part of the watch nafter the movement. BP can make an all titanium LMPO with Titanium bracelet and ceramic insertand keep the price under $400.00 by a large margin. Why couldn't this watch be made at a similar price point? ZF seems to make some nice products, but if the TBB is any indication, their choice of suppliers is weak. Maybe another maker can do this watch justice?

Problem is that Tudor is not a make that the rep makers are used to dealing with. As far as popularity is concerned they are an unknown quantity. They are also very good value for money for the gen with build quality of Rolex and price point of an ETA based watch.

So, the big makers who could use large volumes to cut prices won't touch because they aren't sure it will sell well. The small makers who are taking a gamble won't make enough to reduce the price. It's not all about supply and demand when they don't actually know what the demand is. Us on the forums are a very small part of the overall rep business.

Also the bracelet is a work of art. Not only do you need magnificent fitment on the SEL but the clasp has multiple difficult parts to rep, ceramic closure spring loaded balls, spring system inside the clasp, folding divers extension etc etc.

All things considered, a price under $600 is feasible when compared to $2500-3200 for a preowned model. However, at that price point it better be 110% accurate. In reality, we know that there will always be something wrong at which point as consumers we get frustrated when paying top dollar for a flawed product.

I would offer the alternative of buying the pelagos on rubber. If I want the bracelet, I can try the impossible and go gen. But again buying a gen bracelet is not cost effective and you might as well go gen all the way.

It's been a year now since the production for the BB was started and it's still not done. Even if the BB sells good and they decide to make the Pelagos you might not see one till 2015.

I'm in, but I have to agree with smokie that it could be a while before we see such a thing.
