Hi Everybody. I have been considering a Pelages for awhile. However I have had issues with gen titanium watches before as they are easy to mar if they take a simple desk dive. Still I do like the simple clean look, and right now I have the Red HBB on the wrist and a nice Franken build of a 1968 Snowflake ghost scercions built for me.
This is what I need to ask and please don't skewer me as I'm not trying to put up a big controversy, but $368, is not an inexpensive replica, especially with that $35 for shipping. Has anybody here seen the Steinhart Ocean 500 Titanium? Its a darker satin finish than regular coloured Titanium that I have owned before, but my mom has had a Tiffany and co, ladies Ti from the early 90s that is a darker finished Titanium like on the Ocean 500. Yes I don't like the sapphire glass back, but they are trying to pimp their non ETA movement, but its just a few hundred more, with warranty and all the other stuff and is a very nice looking watch.
I dig the Pelages, especially the clasp, as I do the ez glide on the No date sub. I was just throwing this out there as it seems to be a good looking Titanium watch, though I could use less printing and the light blue, but otherwise, I have ruled out every other Ti watch and while I like my IWC TG rep that is Ceramic, it seems too light for what you have, even with Ti back, but the pushers are not Ti and its a very busy watch.
I do like the black, but the blue is a very interesting shade of blue, and I dig certain blue shades, like on Omega Bond watches.
a lot of thinking, especially when I have almost 20 watches. I have just worn my no date and the TBB almost all year with rare occasion wearing the bulky but very well crafted Helson Blackbeard, though its lured hands in yellow fade so quickly at night, I can't tell the time half way through without using a light. I guess that is just for deep ocean swimming, I don't dive but swim when possible. Plus it was a present.
I really would like to buy a Pelages, but I can't seem to find the consensus, though there are some great looking photos, plus I have a $30 credit with Angus.
If anybody has handle the Steinhart Ocean 500 ti, I would be curious as to your thoughts. I generally frown on display backs as the skin sweats and collects garbage. The whole point of a Ti watch is to make the watch feel like its not there. I have thought of getting a used Tudor 40mm Sub. I find the 42mm No date seems weightless, but I have a good sized wrist an orangutan-like arms.
Would love some good feedback.
