I see you trying to sell this on reddit! [emoji6]

hahah indeed man.. I have a lot more experience on the subs there (and verified) than on RWI, I was putting out feelers first while I await to hear back from PT about an exchange.

If I get the no-go from PT, I'll figure out how to get a sales post made here on the RWI forum.. I figure it is a better platform to sell higher-end reps anyway.

However here's another video of GEN

Ultra slim/thin caseback as i previous said unfortunally....

Look at the rep caseback:

PAM682

PAM684

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=atpC4wI-edM

And then look at gen caseback... totally different.... so i'm not so sure that the thickness of this watch is correct on the rep....

Went to PAM boutique today and apparently the 682/684 was on some sort of preview tour a few days ago. I confirmed multiple times with the sales who handled them, that the watch is indeed thinner than 389 (which I pointed to), and is even somewhat thinner than 024 (which I pointed to again. Unless she is really bs'ing (kinda possible), looks like the gen thickness is proportioned to its size for the 682/684.

I don't think she is BS'ing because I also had the chance to try it out today and it is slimmer.

Such a bummer we can't have this repped with the same thickness as gen :( Also the case back as pointed out earlier is beyond off.

It's an amazing watch and I would loce to get one but with such critical defects I wouldn't risk it.

Thanks for confirming, and you're lucky to have seen them in the metal. In my opinion proportion is actually more important than size. But I see this in a positive way - since the gen is designed in a beautiful proportion, someday (hopefully) the factory will update the rep and eventually we'll have a watch that's gen-like and nice.

I have a KW682. You know, I don't that it's a little thicker than the gen. It's still a lovely watch!

Yeah I agree.. At first I was having some difficulty reconciling the flaws of this PAM682. I love the watch, and am excited that Panerai finally has a smaller option for the submersible model which is a fantastic and distinct looking watch imo. It was really disappointing to me that for one, I didn't realise the glaring flaw on the case-back with the balance wheel in the wrong position (on my A23J , should've gone for the 7750), and furthermore learning that the case diameter is quite far from 1:1 since the rep-makers have yet to get their hands on a gen for comparison and tooling.

But after some deliberation I've come to terms with the fact that at the end of the day you can't always go for an undisputed "super-rep".. (well I guess you could, but you'd be limiting your options, style, and personal preference... also nothing wrong with that)

My thoughts are, if you love a style or model, even if it has minor flaws, in the end it is a rep. As long as its close enough, and looks good, go for it. I don't know about the daily interactions of all members here, but I can say with some confidence that 99% of the people I encounter on a day-to-day basis don't have a fraction of the in-depth knowledge about some of these watches as we do here on the forum. We scrutinize every detail under a microscope, so to us these flaws are "glaringly obvious" but to the average person they honestly will never know the difference. Especially if they're trying to peep our reps while they're on-wrist. (I know some people say the 1-2mm difference is obvious, but I have my doubts if someone could really tell by eyeballing a watch on someones wrist..)

Anyway, I guess my point is to just wear with confidence if its a style you love.

Sorry for a bit of a rant. I still think the PAM682 is a beautiful watch and I don't think the photos quite do it justice, it really looks fantastic on-wrist! Sent mine off for a re-lume of the dial for that extra bright glow :D

@LuminorReptar

Agree! People on the street just say, "Hey, nice watch man!" They're not going to point at my watch, and say, "Hey! The caseback is too thick!" Most people that I make contact with don't even know what a Panerai is. We're talking about corporate attorneys, business owners, teachers, medical professionals.

i had finally the chance to try it on the v2 rep yesterday evening.

Size is just right but there is something a bit odd, weird, off in the proportions which my friends and I couldn't really point out (maybe the fact that the cg looks a bit too big ? not sure)

I had already ordered the watch from Sora before he/she disappeared with my money, so i was really into it. But after trying it on and reading around having the impression the case is too thick, I'm glad I can wait a little bit before really getting it

Great watch nonetheless and this is merely my own opinion from an aesthetical point of view

I'm thinking it's the skinny bezel?

I'm so used to my 243, whenever I look at the 682, the skinny bezel (bezel: dial face ratio) makes me feel uneasy.

Skinny as in thickness? Or skinny as in width? On the first one, some have pointed out that the bezel is too thick. For the second, the width is proportional in size to the 42mm size of the case so compared to the one on the PAM243 for example, the bezel is narrower by around 1mm.

I meant the width.

Does that mean the dial face size remains the same but only the bezel gets narrower on the 682 vs the 243?
That would explain why I feel the way I do about it.
