There isn't such color in the DLC color variation and shades, neither in any of the other PVD application coatings colors!!
The only way that they could've matched the color of the composite 386 is first coating the watch in Titanium Alminium Carbo-Nitride (TiAlCN), which is pinkish/purple sort of color and then applying the DLC coating over. The case however carries the properties of the underlying coating before the DLC which is pretty goo as well, not as good as the DLC but still durable. I wonder what is the DLC adhesion of the DLC over the Titanium Alminium Carbo-Nitride (TiAlCN) since the DLC itself has a poor adhesion over SS, so hopefully holds on long enough...

Wouldn't the easiest/cheapest solution for the maker on this one be to simply use a composite material?
The more i look at this, the more i get convinced that there is no DLC coating on the case whatsoever.
C'mon guys, is it only me or no one else here sees the heavy purple hue ... I mean it is so obvious and girlish in a way. They tried achieving the 386 color by doing the following.
-First the stainless steel case was blasted with an Dark Alumina Oxide 270+ Mesh. A very fine sand in dark color that gives both a very fine matted finish that in the same time darkens significantly the Stainless steel.
-Second the case was PVd'd in TiAlCN(ML) /Titanium Alminium Carbo-Nitride Coating
The reason why the end result came out so dark vs. to the usual light purple color that this type of coating gives is the SS case and buckle were both blasted with very the very abrasive Dark Alumina Oxide sand. I have also posted below a picture of different parts being coated in TiAlCN... you may say that they look lighter in color and shinier and you will be certainly correct. The reason behind that is because they werent finished/blasted the same way the 386 from PT was done with the Dark abrasive media.
So i believe, not, I know that there is "0", none, nada DLC coating in this watch whatsoever. The dial looks great BTW

If purple is your color, than it is a good thing. The question is not about if that's good or bad, it is why the coating type was said to be one and it certainly isnt??!

Looks like I'll be waiting for th "ultimate" to come out.
So to recap;
305 = fail
Bronzo = fail
386 = fail
Remember these numbers? 111 112 288k all the new rads for that matter. Looks like if the movement can't be done 100% then the rest might as well be half-assed.

Tbh mate unless they do a composite case it probably won't get much closer than this. I've pre-ordered because I think even this coating looks excellent.

The case is the only issue I have bonesey!
I'd be in if it had one. It would separate it from the heard and justify the price.
Damn. I'm so torn. I really like the 386, but don't know how it will look , compared to the GEN. Don't want to end up with a ridiculous looking Purple watch.
