Sorry if I ask this question:
what defects does the PAM 177 HWF model have compared to the original?

Thank you

I just pulled the trigger on this guy. Couldn't wait for the watch battle I have going on to finish and I ordered this anyway. Paypal balance was gone on the last rep, lol I'm poor now but....looking forward to a cool new rep (and every rep I buy) and will post my approved qc's for your viewing pleasure shortly.

I really like the watch. The finish is a bit rough, for example the crown guard / lever, but this can be fixed easily, thanks to the simplicity of the watch itself.

I had an small issue with the crown/ tube, the screw nut came lose, so I had to remove the stem and screw it back on. While doing that, I've sanded the crownguard a bit down, so the lever sits now more tight, to increase waterproof and better overall feeling.

thanks for the replies.
Regarding the fidelity of the shape of the case and the dial and the colors, can you tell me something?

It's ok. Not as good as the reps of Panerai of old. Even a Panerai noob like me can tell the number cut out is too thick compared to gen.

I like the strap. Have any more pics? Also, how did you know it was loose? I think if my fingers were winding I don't think I would see it turn. I'm guessing it makes the crown not push in completely as it unscrews so I would notice it then right?

The strap is very old and from a maker called MadDog, who is not active anymore. here some more pictures

Yes, you will notice if it is loose, the watch was not windable anymore / stuck in the setting position and the lever came not down anymore. I wind like rotating the crown forth and back, which probably provoked the problem.

I've just found another assembling issue, the crystal of the back is not flush pressed in, should be also fixable by pressing it in.

I've pushed the glass completely in with some redneck engineering wood based adapter and a screw clamp, worked!

after all finishing issues are resolved and adding a new strap from corrigia, I will just enjoy this solid rep.

Thanks for the info and things to look for. This strap looks good too. I just picked up another (I have two on the way to me now, lol) and look forward to enjoying it.

Ok, liking this rep. I'm a titanium fan a I like the unique look to the nice polished other PAMS. Not better just different. Maybe this has been discussed previously on other HWF references but I don't recall seeing it mentioned before but the dial on this HWF version seems more matte that other Bettarini cases. More matte like the newer PAM references. I am not an expert though but the PAMs I have which are sausage dials but vids I've also seen of sandwich dials seem to have more radiance or sheen. I'm not complaining. Just trying to contribute something @KOT1917 would appreciate as he has been an instrumental force in focused evaluation of newer Panerai references in my short time coming back again to the PAM fold.

I like this rep and I was impressed with the crystal quality. More blue tint AR than I was expecting but it seems fairly well done. Here are some initial pics of the dial sheen differences. I'll post other pics later but I just wanted to show dial differences for informational purposes whether more or less accurate to gen I can't say as I don't have a gen. No matter how direct the light it the dial of the HWF will not shine like the other two reps. Not a major factor but it's something I noticed and makes for a slightly less dynamic viewing experience, however, the newer PAMS seem to also be more matte. My 438 I just received is the more uniform matte dial texture and also the submersibles I've recently received. Again I'm just dumping pics here and initial impressions as I've had the watch just a few hours.

1st three pics are HWF 177 the others are PAM 299 old noob and 005 H factory. Hopefully these pictures help explain what I was meaning by dial paint reflectiveness.

Screen cap of video of same radiance of gen and my other rep pics vs HWF which does not have the radiance or sheen.

Have HWF updated the dial as the text doesn't look as white any more in the recent QC pics? Cut-outs still look too large though...

Looks pretty white to me on the one I have. I still have another on the way from Trusty Time and I'll post QC pics. I actually like the larger cutouts as it makes it look more like a sausage dial which I prefer as you can see the index markers at more viewing angles without them disappearing though I suppose it is less gen like. Probably hardly noticeably in real life.
Lume is great on this HWF model. I think they're using the same black paint of the newer models coming out of factories these days. Just different dial styles cut out for whatever factory is requesting it instead of using the correct paint for the specific model. It does not seem like the same paint as on gens going by videos and older, more accurate reps of these models. I still need to look up good pics of new noob and whatever other current factories are (XF?) to see if the dial sheen is different. In case you can't tell I like the dial sheen of the older models as it adds to the dynamic viewing experience with the domed crystals and light play.

Here are my QC pics

And the one I'm wearing now which does look more white and I suppose it could be an older version. Seems unlikely they would update. More likely is the lighting.

I picked up one from M2M not too long ago and the dial text is very much not a bright white. If anything it's too dark, but I love the watch as a whole.

Very interesting. I will definitely have to compare the two when I get it and will post side by sides. Fingers crossed it will be within the next week. It's in my country at least for the past 4 days......
