WHY insist with the wrong crystal?????? It is such an obvious flaw, like a rolex submariner date without cyclop....
All new releases from Panerai have zero distortion crystals....

Either the crystal subfactory can't make it or they want to consume all of the existing crystal design. Anyway people will buy the watches again when a new correct crystal is released.

I like a lot the crown guard on the GEN 799 ; it is thick and rounded inside, at the edges.
It's a shame that they are not able to do the same thing for the rep; too thin and sharp in the inside angles.

See pics below ;)

I'm so glad I'm not OCD. Genuinely, it's a curse! You must be constantly dissatisfied with your watches. Hopefully it's moddable though to those that feel the need.

I think also this is not a big deal ...
I was only telling that this is not something you can mod.
There is no way to mod it because in that case you would have to add some metal.

I am not OCD at all :p

Six months ago i purchased a gen PAM submersible BMG-TECH 47mm...believe me or not but the CG being the same that on this 799 makes a nice difference next to a PAM1389 for exemple.

Other than that the rep 799 is great and i would buy it even with that CG !;)

Question is there a big difference in weight and finish BMG vs Titanium
I love the look hopefully they can release the brownzo as well soon

Yes, when i went to the AD i had to choose between the 1389 and the BMG....the 1389 is lighter and the BMG is heavy like a steel one.
Unfortunatly i kept the BMG for only 5 days because the movement had a small issue...the watch gained at least 30 sec/day
They told me that they would send it back to the panerai service center, but i finally changed for another timepiece, i was not sure to wait to months for it.

Don’t get it, what’s with Panerai and the blue Bamford-esque lume?

Honestly, not exactly a great replacement for the overused vintage lume on the ol’ sub line 508/569/616/661.....

So much more love for the 1039 (please!) and the current 979!

I personally like it in the models they have used it in, a break from the norm....

What do you mean? The Gen 799 does not have a cyclopse.

I think he's saying that the Gen crystal has no distortion whereas the rep crystal has a bit of distortion (which I actually like a lot).

Lol... okay. Yes, after reading your post I can kind of see what you’re saying. That makes more sense.

Glad to see I'm not the only one who feels that way. :) Although it totally makes the crystal inaccurate (which may be enough to discount it from being classified as a super rep), I much prefer the visual beauty of the distortion of the crystal when viewed at an angle. Methinks it's Panerai's way of (temporarily anyway) distinguishing replicas from the gen. From a practical standpoint it makes no sense, who views the time on a watch at an extreme angle?
