My watch arrived from Toro and is spot on too. I also went back over my QC pics after reading your posts to see if I could see anything bad in them.

I can only think that the problems with yours must be so unusual that Toro wasn't really looking for them. Not an excuse, but perhaps the reason that you got a watch which isn't 100%.

I had asked for better pics of the lug retaining screws on mine as they looked damaged in the pitcures, Toro assured me that they weren't, but did warn that the coating comes off them relatively easily. They are absolutley fine in reality, but I won't be swapping the strap too often!

I don't want to sound like a wet blanket here, but I think the PVD wear on the crown is not a severe enough issue to request a full refund.

My logic here is that;
1) The PVD coating on reps is usually thin. It's never done to the standards of the gen though in most cases the PVD on reps is more than acceptable . Even on some gens, getting knocked around in the post is enough to chip/wear the areas where PVD coating is thin.
2) You'll end up with PVD on the crown regardless. It's a high use part and the PVD will inevitably wear off.
3) It may seem very apparent, but it's probably because you're looking for the flaw. You have to remember that very, very few reps are 'perfect'. Most reps these days are extremely good, but they still have flaws. A macro picture like the one you posted makes the flaw look terrible, but is it though? Probably not, you'd have to been looking with a magnifying glass to notice when you're wearing it on the wrist.

I'm sure there will be people disagreeing with me, and they're all entitled to do so.
My point is everything will have flaws, heck, my gen Rolex Date has a missing tritium spot on the dial, so even gens aren't flawless. Toro did try to fix the situation by offering a $10 refund so you have to give him credit in doing so.

Even my 292k has wear just like yours. Do I want it to have PVD wear? No, everyone would like a 'perfect' rep. Is it an issue that will stop me wearing the watch or requesting a refund/exchange? Not in a million years.

^ great post. I agree with your thoughts. The only thing about it is the OP specifically asked about the spots on the crown. Toro didn't have to review the entire watch, just a little crown. If he were to say (to me anyway) look, I can see a very small wear in the PVD, but it is not noticeable but in macro photos and to switch the watch with another is going to take four days, I would have said - thanks, ship the watch... That is all I am saying...

Toro did offer to procure an additional set of lug screws for me if I ever do damage them. Based on that, I'd be surprised if he couldn't get a new crown and just send that if the current one is totally unacceptable to the OP.

I do tend to find that once you've got one minor flaw, no more ever join it, so maybe keep this crown and the watch will never pick up another mark!

That's exactly what its about. I haven't asked for refund, and I haven't changed the watch. But I did have an email conversation with Toro... and told him the same thing that when I ask you to do something specifically, I expect you do it properly and provide me an honest answer. That's all.

In this case, if I saw the mark right after I opened the watch, I am sure he would have seen it as well (had it checked for it in the first place).

Risenshine, is there a resolution? Or have you just decided to keep the watch as is?

I have decided to keep the watch as it is, it seemed like sending back to him would have cost me another 30 bucks, and he said he will inspect the watch to see how minor the issue is, if he thinks its very minor he will just refund me the money since I am being picky :(

Oh well, it's fine. I gave him a lecture on customer service, and principles. Hopefully, something stuck.

26/22 if I'm not mistaken.

I started a thread a little while back, procuring suggestions for 292 straps that are similar to gen. 45acp provided the following link, which is what I will likely go with: http://www.thewatchboys.com/ultrasof...kle-p-280.html

I've got Toro Bravo's Asso strap in 26/22 if you're interested? Its a copy of the gen and his other Asso straps have got good reviews. I don't think I'll use it so it could be yours for much less than $120...

Guyz, I just got my H-fac. ceramic 292 too and noticed two (small) spots on the crown whithout pvd coating. I couldn't find any tutorial on the matter so could anyone suggest any markers or something that could help me fix the problem. Also, does anyone know if ceramic crown from Noob model could be attached to H-fac. stem? As has been said previously in this thread the crown is part of the watch that is very exposed to wear and I'm looking to more permanent solution.I was also thinking of DLC treatment but the beadblasting would probably ruin the crown...?
