I know, I never should have sold the thing! It's just the clasp that I didn't like, but I never did get around to modding it. I'll give it another go in the future :D

I still love mine!!..>>

But I have finally gotten out of the habit of wearing it every day....I'm down to maybe once a week now, with my newly acquired Pam 212 "gettin' a lot of wrist" lately...

.But Since the Plopper has been a "grail" watch for me ever since I saw Costeau, (one of my idols)wearing the prototype at the table next to mine in "Mario's" Restaurant in Westport Ct., in '79, I'll probably never ever get rid of it, ....unless I hit the Lotto, and find a genuine, original series one to replace it....

My Plop has been out being serviced for quite some time by two different watch smiths. The first one said it would cost $350+ to fix the movement or $400 to replace the movement, I told him to send it back untouched because I can buy a whole new watch cheaper. I then sent it to a forum member who is nice enough to help me fix it. Originally I thought I was going to have to just buy a new Swiss movement but after investigation looks like its just gonna be about $30 in parts (second hand, and some gears) and then a full service and it should be better than ever. Good thing the movement is really swiss this way the parts are easily found and totally swappable. I cannot wait to get my white v2 plop back on my wrist.

Since its been down for over 2 months, I sold my mesh to a local friend for his Plop and have a brandy new supa mesh in my box waiting for the freshly overhauled Plop.

Can't wait to have this bad boy back on my wrist and be back In the Plop club.

Guys- any idea how to remove the crown guard? Mine is installed upside down, and I want to get it sorted ASAP...

Open the case..>>>

Unscrew the crown, pull it out to the "set time" position, push the tiny release button just enough to allow stem with CG attached to pull out from watch.....
Reorient the CG correctly, reinsert the stem, close the case...
A word of caution:
If you're not familiar with the stem removal/reinsertion procedure on the movement your watch is equipped with, find a watchsmith to do this for you!!

If you can wear a 44mm PAM confidently, you'll be fine. The Ploprof wears a bit smaller across the face because the dial is much smaller than a PAM. All the size comes from the crown guard and the bezel lock. The thickness isn't as bad as you think, either. It's thicker than a PAM, but not as big of a difference than the measurements suggest. Figure it's about as thick from case bottom to outer crystal as the PAM is from the bottom-most point on the lugs to the outer crystal....maybe 1 or 2mm more. No big deal. Here's a comparison on my wrist...a bit bigger than yours at 6.75", but still on the smaller side:

As you can see, taking the CG's into account the Ploprof is only a bit bigger than the PAM across the face, and the PAM looks bigger on the wrist because of that comparatively huge dial. Really it comes down to the bezel lock part of the Ploprof that decides that it's only a bit bigger (visually at least) than the PAM.
Did you changed the insert Bezel and minute hand on your Ploprof ?
