I had tried to do this 4 years ago with a Noob dial but it was just slightly too small.

So the dial ended up in an SD4K case, which was very good but I missed the original dial.

So I finally got an ARF dial, which was a larger diameter and tried again. It had to be shaved a little bit.

Test fit in the case

It's a 3135 dial going in a 2836 case so the feet had to be clipped and new ones glued on. I rely heavily on pics for alignment needs. That's a VS3135 DW with teeth grinded off used a DWO. Also note the use of a GMT hour wheel over the normal hour post. This greatly helps keep the dial in position for gluing the feet on.

After all the shaving and gluing the dial gets a bath and a blow dry. This leaves it pristine.

After the bezel is reinstalled and the tape ring in place, I put a toothpick under the insert so it won't stick off-center. Again using pics to get proper alignment.

I just love these dials but I can't manage the 44mm case.

Cyclops was removed by heating under a lighter for 3-4 minutes and it scraped right off with a razor blade.

Finally, the one I wanted for so long!

Amazing, @KJ2020. Incredible aptitude, talent and skill.
Appreciate the kind words bro. Really just intermediate level tasks though, if that. There are some very talented modders here doing some spectacular things. Today I really wanted the watch in the sales post below but someone beat me to it. Check out the detailed descriptions of the mods done, and for that price!? I've got more than one foot in the dog house for my continued spending but I committed to the purchase anyway. Look at that movement, it's 40-50 years old - serviced, plated, radial brushed, chamfers on the bridges (anglage) and the caseback engraved, decorated, just wow. And the dial, the lume work omg some crazy superior skills on display by this member, I couldn't pass it up without an attempt to snag it.

Doing what you do blows my mind. No small feat and real craftsmanship. Well done.

Would you fine folks be able to help me out here? Any idea which factory this is? Just got it in a week ago. A “trusted” dealer sourced it for me. I was told I would be getting a VSF but I don’t see them offered. I did my own QC and am happy with it regardless.

I think either they or you mean V9F or JVS, not VSF. VSF don't make this rep.

What's the code on the clasp and the serial number at the bottom of the Rehaut?

What do you mean by ""trusted" dealer?" Are they in the RWI Trusted Dealer section?

Clasp code is 7QE which may be BP?

clasp code is 7QE so after looking into that I’m guessing BP? Rehaut is 604Q0700. Thanks for this. Didn’t think of checking the clasp code.

I want to ask the experts in this thread about the VFR deepsea.
What do you think of his dial regarding gen?

I have to admit, I'm stumped. I haven't seen this combo of case, OGEV RLS text, insert, dial and hands on a JC DSSD.

That doesn't look like a BPF dial to me, in particular the 12 o'clock marker and coronet directly above it, and the 6 and 9 markers. But it could just be me, or the photo.

Curious to know which "TD" you used and if there's a link to view this watch on their website.

Initially, it took a while for me to get used to the size. Once I did, the DSSD felt perfect and was all I could wear.

Then I went back to my 114060 and 124060, and the 124060 became the perfect fit.

Most recently, I've gone back to wearing my Planet Ocean 42, and I have another one on the way.

I've been wearing the Daytona 116500 a lot recently, which is a lot smaller on the wrist than all of the above.

So, I think I'm back at the "this DSSD is just too big" point. Plus, my wrist size has reduced by almost an inch over the past 6 months, which is significant when you're trying to pull off a 44x18 mm watch.

The 136660 wears a little smaller, enough to notice the difference. I'm waiting for an accurate rep of this reference, but I'm not holding my breath.

I humbly submit my entry into the Official DSSD Club - not much of a 'join the club' guy, but in this case it feels a bit different (y)

Couple-o-comments on the process

First, this is actually a nice watch - a nice watch in that it keeps great time. Imagine that.... As is the case with many in the forum, I've had my share of GENs, and while they're pretty cool wrt a bunch of criteria, time keeping doesn't always seem to be their best feature. Anyway, for this REP, I'm less than a minute off my 'set time' from Monday. That's pretty fucking spectacular.

Second, after obsessing over this watch for months, reading as much as I could in the forum (what a great fucking resource!), nit-picking every fucking picture (how's the rehaut? how's the blue to black fade? what are the obvious tells? SEL? hands? etc.), and asking for additional QC shots to assess prior to GL (Jtime was fantastic), I can say I put in 99% too much time into the decision. I can't see a fucking thing that's off when I glance at it to check the time. Nada. No, just the time, which keeps rather well (see first point :)).

Third, related to the second, I had to take four shots to get this barely passable shot for this forum, and I'm far from happy with this shot. I could spend an hour or so cleaning the watch of every handling smudge, then decide I need cotton gloves to handle the thing and go out and buy them, and then fuck around with various light sources and diffusion filters to get it just right, and... fuck it. Looking at pictures is depressing.

Looking at the watch on my wrist?

Fantastic.

Anyway, here's my entry - cheers!
