Not worth buying in gen

I have owned numerous reps in the past, I stop buying because movement issues/faults. So I went for gen and I have one omega, one tudor and one breitling.

Now I'm going to give a second opportunity to the reps, I will go for a IWC 3777 zf v2, and maybe Pam 1392.

Are the movements better now than let's say, 5-6 years ago?

Do you know if it is posible to replace A7750 for equivalent sellita (valjoux dificult to buy) ?

Good choice, the IWC pilot.
However, if u want to be on the safe(r) side regarding the movement, you better consider a non-chrono.

I think (with total respect to you!) that it’s a bit mad to swear off reps over movements. All you need is a good modder! I’ve had tons of really long lasting A7750’s running at +/- 3 secs a day. I of course understand waiting etc can be a pain but it’s 1000000% worth it for me to get everything totally stripped, sealed and serviced before use they then last years and years in my experience!

Hope you get some better luck bro!

Almost bought the gen of this, but honestly it's pretty damn perfect ! A gen can be had for less than $2k right now and that is a lot of watch for $2k considering the movement you get in it, but this rep has the 7750 and This one in particular is a Swiss 7750, with new AR and hen crown and tube, to be honest unless you opened it up, there is nearly zero chance of seeing the difference between the two. Lovely. This is tied with an AP in my list. Haven't pulled the trigger due to rumors around a new version for this lovely OP. Need to get my sh*t together and be patient.

True. This Ebel indeed is one of the best reps ever made.

Just received yesterday. IWC Portofino MK V4. Was considered as a superrep in some threads. Was able to compare to gen and I must say the only difference is the rotor noise (a bit). Optically I was not able to see any differences. Ok the rep strap feels cheaper (as always) but I will change it soon anyways.

Nope, marker @3 absolut identical and for the date no difference noticeable. Maybe on earlier versions but not for V4 white dial.

Edit: Here is a comparison.

(Difference regarding color is just because i took my pic in candle light)
