I wonder how I could tell whether I've been sent a 4.1 and not a 4.0?

Doc I may be wrong, but if you look at the 4.0 and the 4.1 side by side you will notice that the 4.0 s AP logo on the front dial is slightly thicker and bigger than the 4.1

The lume on BMWs 4.0 looks pretty good. Now I cannot find any new pictures from the 4.1 on Angus side? Any links for that?

Its all on RG, they have comparison pictures. They're clearly two different assemblies. 4.1 is a noob 3.5 with updated bezel and 4.0 is different altogether, dial, hands etc

Anyone else find it ironic how all of these surfaced all of the sudden , after a member picked one up outside the dealer circle ? Now all of the sudden Noob floats a 4.1. I smell bullshit.

hey Beemer,

I said this on the 29th over on RG directly to Angus which I will copy and paste below. Just part of the rep scene and business ethos IMHO.

Angus,

You know I think you are a great asset to this community but I find it HIGHLY suspicious and strange that the NF released the updated 4.1 at the EXACT same time as the New Maker was discovered with the V4.

Sorry but this is NO coincidence. Maybe the NF had the updated inner bezel for a while and did not want to release it until ALL the old inner bezel 3.5s were sold which makes more logical business sense but since the New Maker was discovered the NF was forced into releasing the 4.1 to compete. Again this is not your fault Angus but says alot about the NF and the rep scene in general.

Since the release of the V3 people have been asking for an inner bezel upgrade or mod and the NF never really addressed the issue since they knew the V3 and subsequent V3.5 would sell anyways. The ONLY reason why the NF released the 4.1 was to compete with the New Maker since they know that NO ONE would buy any more 3.5 if they could get the V4 with better inner bezel. The timing is HIGHLY suspicious at best.

Even though I have a fully modded low beat V3.5 I will also get the V4.1 like many others just for the inner bezel mod. Just rubs me the wrong way that the NF probably had the thicker font inner bezel for a while and if not for the New Maker with the V4 they would probably still be selling the V3.5

Money truly makes the world go round, pathetic but true nonetheless.

I cannot be the only one that feels this way or has this theory?

Rep scene is great fun but there is something to be said about the gen scene as well. At least there are less games being played and less manipulation going on unless one falls for LE pieces from certain companies producing the same watch in various versions just to make a profit :) hint hint

Angus is just a dealer. I think he doesn't have power to decide which and when each watch will be released.

Guys, it is not time to have a fire sale for our AP 3.5's. I like the new inner bezel and lune updates and would add them if I could buy the parts separately, but I spent $450 to get the Swiss version 3.5 and it has been a stellar watch. I actually went diving with it last week and had it down around 75 meters with no issues at all. I never even bothered to waterproof it before the trip. It's a quality piece and a better bezel insert alone is not enough of a reason for me to upgrade. This is not a watch that you will ever get called out on in the first place!

+1 !!!

You hit the nail on the head.

My other question is , what other watches are out there that the TD's we deal with have no access to ? If this member had not tracked down this non-noob version, we would not be talking about this. It's a business like everything else in life. I fully understand this. It just sucks that many members are now stuck with 3.5's that they recently purchased. But that's happened to all of us at one point or another. I guess it's the name of the game.

An unfortunate fact of life. New model comes out and your taking a huge hit. Happens with phones, cars etc etc.

The 3.5 is great, but the V4 and V4.1 are just that bit nicer!

So which is the best now?

V4 with the perfectly moulded bezel markers?

Or

v4.1 with better AR on crystal and cyclops?

Is this not what we saw with a watch like the PAM 299N?

The side by side comparison of the 299N and the previous "bestus" version and compared to the gen made it abundantly clear the new 299N was the "gold standard". I can't see factories racing out to improve upon that particular model.

The AP and its dozens of variations makes for quite the battlefield.

I just read this whole thread and one on RG it is clear (some) people are confused about these reps that are being constantly updated.

We see a 3.5 version and then a 4.0 and then a 4.1 even surfaces. Throw in the fact people want to modify / frank to ensure they look even closer to Gen and you have a very active rep game that will no doubt fill up "for sale" threads as they get better and better.

It's amazing too how high prices are getting. Did anyone think 5 years ago they would be paying $600 for a rep and then spending that amount in mods?

I want to buy a Diver but want with SS bracelet and want to ensure I get the most recent rep.

Has anyone seen the latest version with SS? And with these new upgraded versions does this mean we may see a crop of re-issues like the Mexico or Montauk Hwy?

In a perfect world choosing one of these would be as easy a decision as it was to go with the Pam 299N. Has anyone ever cooked up a definitive AP guide like the Pam one that is on this forum? If anyone knows of such a thread, please post the link.

Can't believe we are disappointed in improvements from the rep factories, there are there to make money and milk us for what they can get, improve a little and milk us for some more cash, with such a constant demand for the diver obviously now was a great time for them to milk us a little more
