Didn’t change the lower jewel, the upper is Rolex as is in balance bridge
Still in testing but so far so good

Why I did it, curiosity? Experiment?
Maybe will put a clear caseback?

Is the differnce in gen and rep noticable when using a clear caseback? Some comparing pictures would be nice :)
What is your opinion does the rep movement needs a service?

This is cool, thought you were after a specific „advantage“. I wish you a lot of success and fun on your endeavors.
You actually highlights a significant disadvantage of Rolex compared to other brands (e.g. Omega): Why bother decorating a movement, if it is hidden behind a steel caseback. I chose Omega over Rolex for that reason on my gen. I‘ll try to get into this overall hobby more by obtaining watchmaker tools and simpler movements (ST36xx) for the beginning. Hopefully I‘ll be able to do similar to you in a not to distant future.

I sent mine for full service and waterproofing in Germany. The german watch maker said best movement he ever saw!

I just ordered this bad boy. I’ve always loved the Daytona, but the decorative 3 and 9 subdials was a dealbreaker for me as far as reps.

Can someone explain to me why the SS bezel is undesireable? Personally, I think the white dial SS bezel is the best looking of the bunch.

The SS bezel seems tacky for some, especially against the chromish dial, the fonts seems to be debossed via a machine rather than etched/engraved. At least that's what i feel when comparing the bezels

Any news on the platona update with proper subdials like the new ARF v2?

I'm shopping around for some clear casebooks for my Daytonas and found these on the bay. One is cheaper and the other more expensive one looks more the part. Thought I'd put them here in case anyone wants to buy one too.

The cheaper one really does look kinda cheap. The expensive one looks good! But I would suggest you take a look at Customwatchconcepts. They are based in Germany and the casebacks are apparently made in Germany too. Anyways, I have one for my gen 16710, it fits perfectly and still ensures full water resistance. I bought it a year ago for around 90€, now the prices have gone up a bit, but it's still reasonable. http://www.customwatchconcepts.com

Thank you for this. This watch deserves a clear case back so I'm looking for a good one.

Please like the analysis post if you find it useful!

Stock dial on the steel isn't good enough. The ROLEX font is incorrect as they've copied the ceramic dial font which is more modern looking.

If you were frankening with gen dial and bezel or ARF dial and bezel (which are realistically only obtainable by buying the ARF model, swapping the dial and bezel and then selling the donor watch) then the 116520 would be a good choice.

This is the QC for the LN Noob black face I just received. I tried my best to make a side by side compared to Gen on left. If it helps anyone in knowing what the current batch of Noob 4130's look like. I'm not posting this for any help in picking faults etc. It's just for anyone these that have an extra keen eye to see what the current batch is like. Its good enough for me!

maybe this is a silly question but you can get a Gen face off ebay for around 1k. why not put this on the 4130 movement and you have a pretty cheap franken thats 99.9% for like 1600 bucks?
what am i missing here?

1k sure but not for the ceramic model? I thought the 116520 dials had different fonts?
