My bezel from steve can in. I compared it to my Gen SD4k, the color is EXACTLY the same! I have no idea how he is able to get it perfect, but he did.
I am definitely doing this to Every Ceramic Rep I have. This mod essentially makes this into as close to Gen as you are going to get and is WAY cheaper then buying a Gen insert!
I highly recommend this to anyone that wants to make their Rep look legit! Below is a picture of Steve's mod insert (it is a DSSD insert) next to my Gen SD4k. Because they are different size inserts you can't compare the number size, I am posting the picture for reference to the color only.

Would you like an indoor footage or a natural daylight one ?Would love to see a video of this Platinum Mod to see how it reflects in the flesh. If anyone could help, it would really be appreciated.

No offense but I disagree. The insert color and shine is one of the key features that defines the ceramic submariner. This mod will never be like gen. I'd rather just do the sharpie mod. $10 dollars. 99.9% of people will not notice your bezel either way
I'll make a video but i doubt it will show the true color.I think natural daylight shows better this aspect.

This is the closest to gen there is for SubC bezels, outside of sourcing a gen bezel assembly. No paint mod comes close in terms of all-around effect i.e. general appearance, texture, color variation with light. Lol at the thought of using a sharpie to replicate this effect. This mod will never be like gen. I'd rather just do the sharpie mod. $10 dollars. 99.9% of people will not notice your bezel either way
See above.I tried the silver sharpy on a spare bezel insert- not even close to this, in fact I would leave it stock before doing that again.

The sharpie is an improvement tbh I was quite impressed with the result but it just doesn't compare to the spongebob. Just do what makes you happy with your watch, 99% of the time the only person looking is you!

I saw the pictures of the sharpy mod so I wanted to try it back to back with the spongbob mod just to see the difference. BIG difference, My JF insert wasn't that bad- until I put it next to the SpongBob mod, then it was a huge difference. The sharpy Mod compared to the JF insert looks really bad. I definitely would take the stock JF insert over sharpy mod any day. But the Spongbob mod really wins the race by far. It is expensive, but unfortunately the cost of a Gen insert is ridiculous. So that makes this mod worth it to ME. But different strokes different fokes. Think of it this way-
Rep No Date $400
SpongBob $200
Gen Crown $200
Service $150
Total Franken Cost $950 not bad
I have limits I will spend on a rep. I will Never buy a Gend dial, hands, bezel. Brings the cost way to high, at that point I would just buy a Gen.
But one if the biggest tells of a Rep is the Bezel insert. It is what you can see from the furthest away, so it has to be good. No one can see the dial ft print from 1 foot away, but you can see 2 things- bezel and cyclops black hole effect (on date models) so the bezel is priority 1 if you want it to look Gen correct. Just my 2 cents- but think about it!
