I just got the email about these. Crazy... I never thought it would happen. I'm no Tudor expert but the blue color looks off to me. Peal looks crumby and the shield logo looks too fat. Still, I'm happy to see these. They look just as good or better than most budget builds.

Not true to gen but a decent budget build. Stem height is LOW (2836). All Tudor Subs had a high stem height. Also gotta trim the crown guards and change the crown

I was hoping they would do this. I used a JK factory 1680 to build this one. Yes DVNE it is low (2836) stem height. The case has plenty of material to shape the crown guards. I am still refining mine but you guys can decide about the case shape. Gen dial is from a 94010.

Thanks DVNE, not a bad budget build except for the gen dials are getting crazy now! It does have a gen 5513 insert and 703 crown. So really a mid scale budget for this one.

Very interesting. I could see myself doing a budget build with one of those. And engraved caseback too!

Where can we source a dial like this.. but NO DATE

http://i511.photobucket.com/albums/s351/yukiwatch/Tudor Dial/DSC_7155.jpg~original

Thats from Yuki's store.

What you are looking for is a dial from the Tudor submariner 94010. They have become fairly rare and Have been selling for $750-$1000. Here is a listing for one on the bay where the owner was asking $1250 but ended without selling.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Original-Tu...830125?hash=item1a1561076d:g:j2AAAOSwxj5XP4eU

If this is what you want you will have to dig one up on the bay or gen or rep forums. I have not yet seen the 94010 dial repped.

That dial is from a mid 80's 79090. As Tim said, the 94010 version, early 80's and same used on MN subs, was never replicated to my knowledge. I have reached out to several of the rep dial manufactures and no one has or will do it. Like he said, you gotta get really lucky and score a gen off one of the forums etc. Or be like Tim, and get one at a REALLY good price from a buddy :)

Haha thanks for that J! I am going to be hanging on to it too! Mine is in the end going to be a nice MN build! Just a few more parts to source.[emoji41]

So this watch isn't very accurate to gen then?
It can be fairly accurate with replacement of dial, hands, case reshape, drilled lugholes, gen insert, gen 702 or 703 crown, plexi upgrade. This is the same JKF case with the above upgrades. The same type of upgrades can be done with the snowflake dial and hands.

Oh, that's IT? What a bargain!! With 4k worth of parts it can be gen-like!

I think I'll buy one of these and just live with it as-is. Not like I know anything about Rolex or Tudor, so I'd be happy with it.

I've spent twice what these costs on budget builds that really weren't significantly better. I think they're pretty great for the price point.

Not horrible. Blue is wrong color and glossy no good. I'd go with the black. The hash marks are a little long and too thick. Script is ok but is slightly too think and spacing is off some. Lume plots are a little bit too big but not bad. Am I being nit picky, absolutely. Decent dials, for sure. For the price you can't go wrong. And unless you were trying to pass off as a gen to someone who knows vintage Rolex, NO ONE is going to call you out.

I used one of these woodrich dials from ebay in my no-date snowie:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/262510913206

I'm pleased with it but the feet were in an different/earlier Tudor position than 12 and 42 and had to be clipped. It looks nice without using a loupe - I would guess an expert can tell, or side by side you could tell but I am not complaining.

I think my build was around $500 and I did all my own casework. That's with a Swiss 2836, you could do it cheaper. The thing about these new reps in this thread is that you could wear it as a Snowflake while you searched for parts. If the markers and printing are close enough to gen, you could practice luming and aging on the dial. The caseback is engraved too. I wonder how good it looks in person? That's one thing I am waiting to have done and it's more money to spend.

Still if you can do your own casework (and it's not hard if you take it slowly), I think you could probably build a budget snowflake for $400.

I did a parts breakdown in my build thread but I didn't include prices.

JD.
Are the raffles dials any better (blue/black)?
What is your opinion?
