That would be a cool project, but I think beyond the machine shop capabilities of La Maison at present. I have been wondering about replicating the AP 3120 instant date swap mod that I saw cross my bench a few months ago. The parts mostly look like similar 0.25mm SS, except there's a pin on the spring, so that part would require some careful assembly. And from the looks of those parts they appear to be made using wire EDM which isn't something that @xZeroCoolx nor I have access to. Wire EDM machines start at around $50K, so they aren't the bailiwick of hobbyists.
Mostly kidding about the date indicator seating plate and bridge but dropping a challenge too; however that 3120 date change mod is DEFINITELY something I’d buy.

Is there an easy way to get a VSF sub with this mod preinstalled?

I haven’t been approached by any TDs about offering this mod on watches directly from China. For now, the best option is probably to have the watch shipped from TD to modder directly and then have the modder ship it on to you.

What is the downside of not doing this mod or waiting?
Without the mod any no-date VSF Rolex rep (ie VSF oyster perpetual or VSF no-date 41mm sub) will have a phantom date setting position when you pull out the crown. It’s a very small thing, but it bothered me enough to design and build a mod to fix it. If the phantom date setting position doesn’t bother you, there’s really no need for this mod.

This pic was just shared with me by @xZeroCoolx … the part on the left was discovered in a new VSF oyster perpetual.

Apparently the movement still had “3235” engraved on it. Additionally the date works parts were missing from this movement and two of the five blue screws that secure the date plate were missing.

The watch in which this was discovered was bought from a TD directly from VSF (no third party Chinese modders worked on it)… so this strongly implies that VSF is now modding the vs3235 movements that go in their OPs and no-date 41mm subs. (My gut says this is VSF not Dandong since the engraving remains 3235 and if Dandong was doing this I’d expect it to be done “properly”).

While I’m sure many of you assumed that @xZeroCoolx and I started this project with our eyes on the bountiful riches that every other hobby tinkerer has earned from designing and cottage manufacturing a niche mod for a niche product, you’d be wrong… we did this because we saw a problem and wanted to have a go at fixing it. If VSF is now making OPs and no-date subs without a phantom date correction position, that’s great.

MISSION ACCOMPLISHED

And for anybody with a pre-fix VSF OP or 41mm no-date sub — we’ve got your back.

I’m still blown away with what you guys accomplished. I purchased one as soon as yall made them available. Y’all’s contributions to the community aren’t unnoticed. We’re very fortunate to have you guys. It’s things like that contribution that makes RWI the community it is. 👍

What you guys are doing is awesome! Ever since I realized the phantom date was an issue on the new no dates, I keep looking at different TDs to see if a 124060 will show VS3230 instead of VS3235 but so far, nothing. I would imagine they will want to push old stock first so y'all should be able to sell a number of these fixes before VSF catches up.

Thanks @dogwood & @xZeroCoolx for your contribution to the RWI community.

Btw, does anyone have updates if VSF is already producing and releasing new batches of 124060 without the phantom date issue?
Looking to order one unit for myself.

Yes, VSF apparently released a new version of the 124060 today. Andrew from Trusty Time has posted about it:

@dogwood what size hand setter size did you use? I'm always leery about choosing a size as a newcomer to watch modding.

Thank you for this thread and your contribution to this community! Same to @xZeroCoolx!

That thing is fancy! I actually saw that one Adding to cart! Thank you!

PS - are there any date mods currently available?
Are you asking if there are any phantom date mod parts currently available? Yes there are. Both @xZeroCoolx and I have stock on hand.
