This looks like a used gen dial! If this is a rep dial, then it is the first Portuguese dial, where the indexes are made the right way.
Looking forward for the finished watch!

I think trombone may be right - this may in fact be a gen dial which they used to make the copies. Would explain why its beaten up. Its the little details that make me think its gen, even the shine on the concentric circles of the subdial. I may be wrong, but i have a feeling that this is the case. Food for thought.

In any case - looks like ZF is making some serious steps in the right direction with upcoming IWC projects.

Very interesting point. The finished product will tell all. I'm really looking forward to this one

It would be amazing to be the rep dial. But I'm not sure [emoji19]

I'm quiet sure it's rep. The 7 is too close to the index. A flaw I can live with if the rest has this quality and accuracy.

Here a gen 5007 dial, look at the 7:

Hmm. Possible. But I still don't think this is a gen dial. Look at the scratches and marks. I cannot imagine they disturb the dial of a gen of the value like this watch, they would keep much more care about that to "save" the gen watch. And I believe Ryan is a honest guy.

From time to time there are 5001/3714 dials available on ebay in that condition.
The scratches are no indication, that it should be not gen.

I think that the bigger distance between the 7 and the index is an optical distortion because of the angle of the pic, dial looks gen to me

Showing us a gen dial saying it's a rep would be a fraud. I don't believe Ryan is a fraudster. Anyway - wait and see.

I don't think the poster is saying it is a rep or gen dial as the comment is ambiguous so can be taken with different meanings.

A couple of points -
The dial shown is a 5001, you can tell this by the size of the 'Schaffhausen' writing. The 5007 is noticably smaller, look at Higginsd image of the 5007.

I think the poster of the dial could reply with their comment as the title is 'Sample dial for ZF Portuguese.' this could either mean that it is a sample 'from' ZF or a sample 'for' ZF to reference to.
I personally think it is a gen dial and if not is an incrediably good copy!

I think it's a rep dial. Incredibly good one and excited about this.

When you say 'Sample something' it usually means 'sample of the goods we are making'. Not ' I am going to make a copy of this and this is a sample i am using'.

For instance, if you ask me to build AP FCGP that I'm making as a matter of fact, I'd be showing you an AP i am building as a sample to seek your approval, not Gen AP'. Otherwise, what the heck is the use of showing at all?

Point taken but that is only your interpretation of the statement. My comments were relating to this particular thread but reading the other post seems to imply the dial is a sample in the factory. I would take that comment, in agreement with you, as a sample of the dial they have printed.
If the posters state this is a gen or the rep then there is no need for debate. Either way when the actual rep hits the TDs all our questions will be answered.

Of course, there is no need for debate. I understand that there was a room for different interpretation of the statement by Ryan.

I was merely meaning to convey mine as reading the context of the statement would indicate the intention, not trying to marginalise different opinion.

Pardon me if I came across that way.

Anyway, as you've said, when the actual rep hits the store, all our questions will be answered and our wallets will dry out. ;-)
