New ORF SMPc 300m A8800 released today

Is the consensus opinion that the ORF version is better than VSF's? I've been waiting for a while to pick up a VSF but this looks amazing.

So I went back to the TD and relayed the differences and they are claiming they spoke to the factory about it ... And ORF confirmed that it is "their watch" and that this batch has differences and cannot guarantee a return to previous versions (sounds like the raids had an impact)

That really sounds like a load of crap to me. So....the case is different, the dial is different, the movement is different, the date wheel is different....this isn't just a "different batch", it's a different watch entirely - one who shares little (if any) common parts with either ORF or VSF. I think you have a strong case to get your money back or the proper watch in your hands. You're being lied to by your TD.

This and no one else can get a black face for love nor money right now from ORF. There's not one other example of this build watch being passed as ORF anywhere else. Definitely been had.

OldNavitimer watch is looking great! How is the crown on these? My VSF’s was never great and is now very close to not screwing in anymore. Please tel me these are better as well.

Mine screw in well and smooth. It’s a gen problem as well as reps. I’ve had 2 gen Smp’s strip the threads on the tubes.

Tends to happen when people overtighten them every time they screw the crown back in mainly on watches that don’t get worn everyday so suffer more from regular time setting etc.

VSF, more than any other rep manufacturer I know of, tends to have crown/stem/tube issues. I've had multiple SMP (both steel and ceramic), Planet Ocean, and Aqua Terras with these issues. Wobbly crowns on anything 43.5mm and up are standard fare, straight from the factory. All my watches are stored on winders, and still I have the problem. VSF don't seem to have a problem with their Rolex line, though. Go figure.

Because of my multiple crown failures, I always rotate the crown backwards to find the lip of the thread, before screwing down clockwise. And I take it slow and deliberate. There's not much worse than your favourite rep getting ruined because of stripped tube threads - replacement is cost-prohibitive.

The crown on my ORF seems pretty solid. You can feel the difference between deep cut threads and shallow threads.

Yes it does, I’ve done it and also the orf rubber strap fits nicely and much easier than the VSF with no need to bend spring bars etc.

How is the bracelet and clasp compared to the vsf? I found the vsf very sharp and had to spend quite a while with my Bergeon stick to fix it. Otherwise I find the vsf bracelet really nice...
