So based on reading this thread, these aren't made by a regular rep factory and are instead made to order by a random guy?

Those are the same as Josh and Andrews, we won’t know for certain until someone gets one and dissects it, but I suspect it’s most likely a Silix/Cartel build and therefore not at all gen like in any respect.

No apologies needed, it is confusing if you don’t know what to look for. Neither of the two available 6542 models have a factory name afaik, but the TS/JTime version is closer to gen, with gen spec dial fitment, crystal fitment, and gen-like bezel construction; also the fakelite insert is far superior as it can be modded from the backside, and a gen crown fits the stock tube.

For F-sake... these are popping up like mushrooms all at once now after a total drought for years. At least we have some (quality-tbd) now to chose from. The dealers or factories must have heard everyone’s cries for these.
If 3 of the 4 dealers’ models are all the same, no use in getting all 4 to compare. I need to dig into the different pics when I get some time. and wait for the experts like you guys to weigh in. It sounds like your take is that Josh, Trusty, and PureT are the same, while jtime is offering something different?

Yes, to my eye PC, TT, and PT are all the same build, while JTIME’s is built on the case set originally offered by TSWATCH now vintagepower.

Maybe off topic, but was a coke bezel ever released with the black or white dial in the ref 6542? I did some research and found the pepsi bezel on the white is rare and even thought of to be a myth.

As luck would have it, DHL apparently attempted delivery of what I believe to be the first package as I was typing the last note. Must be going deaf as I didn’t hear the bell or a knock (I was literally sitting 10 feet from the door the whole time). By coincidence, as I went outside about 5 minutes later for something unrelated, I received a text from DHL that they attempted delivery and no one was home. Hmm.
So I missed the first package and should get it tomorrow. Fingered crossed. Will update everyone after I have some personal time alone with them... Can’t wait for the second batch to arrive in a few weeks(?). Bla, bla, sorry I keep rambling on about the details. Can’t believe I’m so excited like a kid for these things.

Hor-FanKJ2020 I’m not aware of a coke albino 6542. But some of the experts like Hor-Fan or KJ2020 or others can correct me. I believe KJ2020 mentioned this topic a few pages ago.

There was never a gen Coke insert in either the 6542 or the 1675. The first Coke was in the first GMT Master II, the 16760 "Fat Lady"

Yep, they had to have used a stencil or some type of automated technique for lume application - pad printing with lume? No way that was applied by hand on so many copies with perfect edges. And a human applier would not likely have left the 6 that way.

The insert is unquestionably better. it's not lumed aluminum coated in plastic. You can see the aluminum markers under the lume on these.

Look at the difference in a more realistic looking Bakelite, next to a gen. This was from TSWATCH before they branched off their vintage line and jacked up the prices.
