That's useful info, how did you remove it and did you damage it doing so? Wondering if a replacement would require the case to be re-tapped?

Wrapped it with my glasses cleaning towel and put some pressure with some tiny jewelry pliers I have and it unscrewed really easy. Not a single scratch. Well, I mean the two scratches on the grooves were there before (and explain why it was a bit hard to screw the crown in, lol).

Interesting, maybe you can sand the threads a bit where the scratches are to negate the threading issue.

Thanks! Good idea, will definitely try. I'd like to replace it though, but most tubes I see on ebay mention 7mm, 6mm or 5.3mm. And I can't see any of these three measures in the one I have...

That measurement is for the crown size. I have read that a gen crown won't thread correctly on a rep tube (like from Raffles) but I don't have any experience with replacing tubes.

The story so far:

Crown tube sanded... Completed!
New bracelet with correct endlinks... Completed!
Rolex logo clasp moved onto new bracelet... Completed!
Endlinks slightly bent to add a nice fitting... Completed!

...now I need to find a gasket for the back as the one it had was dry and broken. Now I know why it didn't pass the water resistance test. Anyone know the size or where (da hell) can I find one? I am tempted to pick a crown and tube, to be honest, as the one that came with the watch had scratches and doesn't have any gasket inside.

Some pics of this lovely watch:

Too bad the dial is not a negative Gilt ... but it's really nice as it is.

How is the bezel lume on these? It looks pretty nice in the pics that TS posted.

HI Gents,

Long time no see for me on the board, but very glad to be back with RWI folks.

I finally pull the trigger, as many of you, and have just received the QC pics : https://photos.google.com/share/AF1Q...9hTEJRR3BFSzVB

I've already mention back the failed WR test and asked to see both hands more clearly, but would very much appreciated your feedback, as I do not want to miss a possible flow.

Many thanks in advance,

Crown tube length seems fine, bezel insert has all the numbers and dots, dial has all the hour markers in place and lume seems even. I'd go ahead, the WR is mostly a dry gasket in the back and a poor tube/crown which can only be solved on your end by buying a better quality one (gasket and tube+crown).

Yep, that's the one!
The rivet bracelet I got withy last tiger was cool because it had tiny spring bars on the inside of the bracelet between each link, which made adjusting the size really easy. This one pictured is their older design I think.

Mine came yesterday. The bezel teeth were really sharp so I sanded them down a bit and discovered a color change underneath. A very worn look and buttery smooth. I like it!

I also took some of the acrylic off the insert, that stuff is way tough at least with 600 grit. I may take some more off at some point but I'm OK with just knocking the square edge off it for now.

Need to sand the tube down a bit, get some better O rings. Nice vintage GMT for the price.

Indeed. Looks like my grandma did them, with one of her knitting needles, ha (although I don't know how sharp and we'll finished we're the originals, remember this is supposed to be a +60 year old watch).

Looks like mine was on the time graph 20 minutes before yours. https://photos.google.com/share/AF1...?key=UUlzcVlqbWJhdnNVeXN6b3FYR1c4MXdKSXNCdlFR I wasn't convinced the date was well centred so they sent me several more pictures with a more reassuringly position date and I accepted.

I expect I'll want to change the dial at some point. Bit of a novice at this..does anyone know if I can just use one of the ones from Rubys watch, like this: http://rubyswatch.com/Products/parts/gmt-6542 and one of their Jubilees: http://rubyswatch.com/products/k10-1-|-6251h-|-bracelet-|-20mm-|-55-endlink-2168 ?

Ruby's dials do not have feet on them so you will have to use dial dots or glue new feet on it. Search this thread for Hor-Fan 's 6542, he has a beautiful white Vietnam dial on it. I have ordered one like it from Ruby's. The bracelet should fit, it has the correct endlinks for this model. Take note that the jubilee links are folded, which I didn't really care for. I will probably order a jubilee from Raffles and swap in the TS Watch stock clasp.

FYI the Ruby's dials are $230
