Here you are Sir. UPS truck arrived and wife didn't notice!!!!! Pictures soon in Omega and gen threads
Mendota here you are if you need anything else just ask. I have to get some courage to work like Hor-Fan PS the bezel is like a skin remover definitely needs sanding
The edges of the "bakelite" insert is raised? The gen is flushed with the bezel...
Loving the thread, looks like a great watch for the money.
has anyone got any ideas of what can be done about the extending lugs? New replacement ends of bracelet? Shape the case (seems crazy) more I look at them the more weird they seem to me

It's certainly possible but difficult. Getting all the lugs to look identical would be hard in my opinion. Plus you would have to think about the chamfer as well.changing the endlinks for ones closer to gen wont do much, if anything, imo. only real option is reshaping them, but im not sure how feasible that is. im sure some of the experienced modders here would be able to chime on how doable it is.
The raised edge of the insert is easily remedied with some wet-sand paper.

Looking at the side profile pics I don't think the lug holes will be a problem. The lug tips go way beyond them. I would think 1mm or less on each side would be enough to make them the perfect length. I think I remember someone saying the L2L was 48.5 as is from the factory. I believe it should be 47 or so.yeah the chamfer seems like it would be the trickiest part, as for shortening them all the same amount, using the endlinks as rough guides would work quite well i reckon: although i don't have any experience with case reshaping other than removing crownguards on seiko mods.
may grab one of these and give it a shot, biggest concern is the springbar holes being too close to the newly formed edge once the lugs are the correct length.
anyone know if Ruby's dials will fit and line up with the date window correctly?
You'd also need to redo the curve of the lugs. All in all that would be a lot of work and would need specific tools, not cost effective imho against a Vietnam case. Its take it or leave it.
Hmmm. Pardon the noob question, but how would you uniformly grind off the material and yet only take off 0.75mm on each end to equal 47mm lug to lug? Would a bench grinder or dremel be the appropriate tool for that? Seems like it would be too easy to slip up and grind off more. But then you need to repolish the lugs and redo the chamfers that are going to get mangled by doing all of that.

Just to manage expectations here, how long does it take for them to send QC pics? I ordering the stock one but I don't know if they do the hands separately or not...
