How did you guys age the bezel insert? Thrasher can you take some more pics of this beauty? From the side to show the crown, the case back, closeups of the dial, hands, and insert?

Thrasher No worries. Take your time. Nice khaki! I have a Hamilton dress watch that I got in college. It's a great watch, but it's way too small for me by today's standards. Sadly, I kept comparing Rolexes to the size of the Hamilton and I opted not to buy a new 16610 sub and Explorer 1 back in 2002 when I had the chance to buy both for my 30th birthday. I passed on the sub because I thought it was too big, and the Explorer because I read a scathing review on Timezone, written by a watchsmith, which ended up being a fraudulent review! Then I completely forgot about watches during the rest of the early 2000s, when money was growing on trees, I had no kids, and the gen prices were still cheap. Now that I have discovered the magic of Vietnam case builds, and the wizards here who can use them, along with gen parts, to create franken-gens, I don't feel so bad. Had I bought those 2 gens I may have ended my watch journey right then and there, and I may have never discovered the vintage world. I could have ended up being one of those clueless gen owners who has no idea about the history or significance of the watch they are wearing on their own wrist! LOL

Goddamit GingerBubba , Hor-Fan and Thrasher , you finally made me do it. Order placed, waiting for QC pics!!! /facepalm

Now for the bezel, one thing that worked for me on the AP bracelets was to "sand" them with a piece of wood. It doesn't scratch them at all and it just leaves the blade a bit dull (and whoever has had a Royal Oak knows why do I call it "blades" *ouch!)

Thrasher FAWK! Holy sh#t. This is so freaking nice. Dammit. I am going to pull the trigger a bit later this spring, as well. Honestly, the lighting on your dial pics is perfect and I can see the texture of the lume plots. I love it. This is actually what sold me. What I hate about my red 1680 dial is the shiny lume. This is amazing. How is the bezel rotation? Do you know yet if this bracelet will take gen spec 2mm bars or if this would take 1.8mm? I lost the link I had saved, but someone (maybe it was Ofrei) sells 1.8mm shoulderless springbars.

Don't curse us, thank us!!!! You really can't go wrong, cracking watch for the money.

I wouldn't worry about scratching it though, the first thing I did in fact was attack it's shiny newness with sandpaper - it looks a bit ridiculous new and shiny when it's meant to be, what, 50,60,70 years old or whatever!!!

pretty sure I read in this thread it will not take 2mm spring bars or maybe that's the bracelet. Bezel rotates smooth then gets stuck like there is a little glue under it. No big deal I have to talk to Hor Fan a bit

I have not heard of anyone doing it in this thread , but its totally easy...I have done it with many cartels over the years....Though one time I got a hold of a high beat 2846..Imagine my surprise....To me being that period correct is no longer important.
