i think its actually a very well executed rep. IMO feels a lot more "gen" than the 5711 reps despite technically being less "gen-spec"

Rep has:

- bluer dial
- fatter 6 and 8 o'clock markers
- sunken moon disc
- uneven minute dots
- protruding crown
- fake power reserve
- slightly fatter bezel
- worse finishing of the case, the markers, the hands and the bracelet
- less flexible bracelet
- non clone movement with glued decor plates

Thanks for ruining the fun bro. Lol.

I disagree with this. The rep actually has a much greener dial. Handling both rep and gen before i strongly believe the ZF 5712 needs a blue coat of paint on top of the standard dial which legend did for me. Removes the really green tint that the rep has.

I've never seen the gen in real life and based on pics I thought the blue color not the green was stronger in the rep. Thanks for the correction.

LOL. The good news is the following differences can be reduced my modding:

- dial color
- finishing (markers, hands, case, bracelet)
- moon disc
- crown
- bracelet fexibility
- case thickness

Telling the truth I like the rep dial color more than that of the gen shown in photos . I 'm fond of the green tint of the rep dial.

The other good news is that in some case the people here are so picky that reps makers are doing efforts to make things better than gens ;-)

Guys,
after an extensive read of all posts in the thread, and from a true lover of the 5712, what’s the actual consensus on getting it or not? My worries are focused on the movement, is it really frail or is it a matter of luck? Servicing it is ordinary or a pain for getting parts and actually working on the movement? Really like what I see regarding the the dial and all, and truly excited but ending up with an unusable 700 $ piece of metal would be painful.
Much appreciate your take on it!

Looking at your profile you seem like a new member.

Buying reps is a bit of "pot luck" where you might get a watch assembled "OK" while some will die within days. I once got a noob daytona clone 4130 new from a TD it even have rust on the movement!

My advice is to read up and wait, personally I wouldn't buy it yet as it seems the deco plates and screws are fallen off left right and center. I think come summer, where the weather is warmer for some members this will increase the chance more. I can't see you can simply screw off the case back so gluing or rescrewing the loose parts might be trickier than usual.

If you are new to reps, I strongly suggest you buy something with time and date only first where it uses slightly more common movements with replaceable parts. This movement has been modded by the factory, if something breaks I'm not sure you can readily source parts for it.

As @philwongnz said. Buy reps only if you have funds for service. Ofc you can always wait for better versions but reps will never be perfect and might diasappear (see eg. Noob Daytona).

Yes, new member, but by no means newbie to the rep game.
I’ve had several reps throughout the years and I’ve had some minor issues with some, but never a gloomy end to any of the reps I’ve owned.
I understand the risks, specifically for new and cloned movements, such as the 5712. I agree with you.
If I’m not mistaken, first batch from Green maker was shipped to a few members as early as March-April, before raids. Let’s see if some owners can chime in and say how it’s been holding up for a little over 6 months.
cheers!
