I am thinking of trying to build my own entry level 1675 using parts from Raffles. My only “watch building" experience comes from building plug n play TMI NH35/34 watches, which I have really enjoyed.
I have put together a parts list on Raffles including:-
Case
Dial
Hands
Bracelet
Date disc overlay
I intend to pickup a movement from AliExpress. Can anyone keep me right on what I should be searching for please?
How straight forward would a build like this be? Anything that is likely to catch me out or is it similar to NH34 builds that I have done previously? Have I missed anything? I guess I will need some stems.
I did a "Seiko” 1675” homage which is fine but the cyclops is rubbish, the roulette date wheel is poor quality and doesn't align but my biggest concern is that it feels a little big on my skinny 6.25" (16mm) wrist. So much so even with all of the links out of the jubilee style bracelet it is still loose and I end up wearing it on a nato.
I really fancy a riveted bracelet and am willing to try removing links. Do you think the watch will still be too big?
Whilst a custom build would be great I just don't want to spend that much on a replica watch that I would end up being too precious about wearing.
I would really appreciate any input on what I may have missed, any opinions on size and any pointers for the build.
My "Seiko 1675” build.
