Just got done modding the pearl on my BB.

I pulled out all the old lume, then sanded the top of the pearl to give it a bit of a rim, more like the gen. (probably should have gone a little more, now that i look at it again)

Relumed it, and put a clear epoxy coat over the lume.


Pretty happy with it.

It did turn out well, i think.

Both pics actually have the epoxy on it, its just totally invisable unless there is a reflection.


I do think i am going to redo it tho, to try get a little bit more of a rim.

Still couldnt get the look i wanted, so i decided to cut my own pearl base.

Its a little bigger than i wanted it but i think i got the shape down.

It's not just the pearl, but the pearl cup that everyone is dissing. The rep has too much of a conical shape to it and too deep, where as the gen is more cylindrical and less conical.

That is exactly what i was trying to do here, it think i just made it too big, but the shape looks ok to me

Right now im using 18-8 SS steel stock, but im fixin to try to get some nickle/silver alloy rod stock as its easier to work with.


SOOO.....too tall? too wide?

Shape look ok?

Its a pain in Aztec trying to grind these lil things...

I think it's way too tall and a tiny bit too wide as well as thick. That's as technical as I can get.

I've made an omega Pearl by cutting the end off a spring bar. I kept cutting little pieces until I got the right height. No grinding necessary. That was way easier though because of the pearl style.

the stock pearl is way better. That pearl is way too big.

Alright guys, 4th time, hopefully, is a charm.

The new pearl in place with the last pearl sitting next to it.

Dont think its going to get much better than this, its just too darn tiny to hold on to and work with.

Once the glue dries on the bezel ill put it together and take a pic.

When I was making these for the PO I lathed the profile at the end of a post, got the rough profile, polished the edges, lumed it and then cut it off of the post. Much easier to handle.

BTW, kudos on the effort.
