MBK Bangkok Review

Project Time is currently located on the 3rd floor at MBK. He is located in a back corner in a hard to find location. The best directions I can give is the location is the opposite end of MBK to the BTS and he is on the right hand side as you enter the centre. I was there 3 days ago.
I am now having breakfast on the banks of the River Kwai in Kanchanaburi after a day at Hellfire Pass yesterday. Erawan Falls tomorrow before Bkk for a day or two before heading home.
Due to the crackdowns recently on fakes a lot of the dealers in MBK now show empty watch boxes and you have to ask to see the reps. They will run off to the secret stash and return for your viewing pleasure. I intend picking up an AP and a Submariner for 7,700 baht as I like new toys to play with

Thanks for the new PT location! I intend to scour his shop next trip.

Do please share pics when you get those watches :) Very curious about quality of APs and Subs at mbk. Think others are too.

I will certainly try to post some pics. They look good to my very untrained eyes but for the price I will be happy if I can get 12 months out of them. By that time I will know whether I like the models enough to buy better quality pieces from a TD. A poor pun but time will tell...

Btw, the AP has a much thicker case than a gen. But I can live with that for a short while

That's precisely my thought process too. Try an entry level one from mbk and then upgrade to the best possible rep if it clicks.

Look forward to the pics :)

I think Asiatique is supposedly a place in bangkok, instead of a shop's name in MBK

Apologies for the delay in responding but things have been hectic...

I have attempted to show some pics of the AP and Submariner below. Hopefully they are ok as I took them with my Tablet and they aren't top quality. The colour of the blue in the AP doesn't show that well in the pics but it is quite a nice blue which changes as the light changes on the face.

I haven't been able to do a proper time check on the AP but it appears to be running +/- 10-12 secs per day which in my opinion is good for a watch of this price. I have a low end rep (which was more expensive than this) and it is running about 30 secs per day fast...

The Submariner is a gift for my brother therefore I haven't been able to test that one. I know the watch works so that is one box ticked.

For anyone that is interested I bought these from AOM watch, 3rd floor, opposite room 38-56. Jasmine was the name of the girl I dealt with. Jasmine was wearing an AP also and said hers was 2 years old. There was no apparent discolouration on the rose gold band of her watch which is a good sign. These watches are supposedly from Japan and have Miyota movements.

When she resized the band of the AP for me Jasmine gave the crystal on each and the bezel on the Sub a few good taps with the screwdriver to show the scratch resistance. It was a real screwdriver as she gave my hand a tap to prove it. Trust me, it was real!

At this time I am very happy with the purchases (7,500 baht for both) and would definitely buy more next time I am in Bkk, most likely in July. The only negative is that I wanted a Breitling Avenger Sea Wolf in Cobra Yellow but no-one has that item. Having said that I did see a gen Sub 116610 which was shouting 'buy me' as I walked past. That could be on the cards too...

Don't suppose anyone has seen any decent reps in Phuket lately? I'm off there again in a few weeks. I've been 7-8 times but haven't looked at reps the last few trips.

Good stuff! And thank you for this.

Was that 7500 each, or 7500 for both combined?

7500 for both. I didn't expect much for the price but am happy so far. Both watches have a good weight to them and the clasps seem to be solid. I don't normally like steel bands but the AP feels very comfortable on my wrist. If I get 12 months out of it I will be happy. I will update on the Sub after my brother has had it for a while.

I remember that feeling :D The allure to buy several is so much stronger when they are physically right there, and the cash is burning holes in one's pocket, demanding to be spent!

But then i think about logistics and sanity just barely prevails.

the ap is fine, but unfortunately you have overpaid for that submariner. that is no way anywhere close to 3500 baht. i assume she priced the ap higher that the sub. the sub is probably worth about 30-40 usd - canal street quality.
