Update a few months on.
MBK has picked up a little as Thailand has opened up. Many of the empty spaces have been filled, although by no means all. It’s a lot busier everywhere which has to be a good thing for a country where tourism bolsters much of the economy.
Similar picture to before In MBK. One change is that the people behind M&M now have an additional shop, CandyTime, on floor 2. Same people, same honesty, same ability to get the best stuff from the leading factories. Obviously they are not a TD on here so I am not touting or promoting, just reporting my experience. Raw prices are very slightly above what you can get online. However you can negotiate, especially if buying more than one, you can do your own QC in person and there are no postage charges, delays or uncertainties.
I’ve picked up a Clean Daytona for a friend, just waiting on a custom build request of a blue 116509 dial with CF black ceramic bezel, red chrono and second hands on a BT 4130 base. There was one on the Daytona appreciation thread a little while ago and I thought I had to try. AdeG all steel Barrichello on Oyster which is nicer than the all black on a Rubber B that I got before. Very tempted by a no date Sub. Cheaper Omega No Time to Die. They were doing a roaring trade in Omega Swatches, the best reps of which do look even better than gen. But apparently almost zero margin in them.
Had some comedy exchanges at one or two other dealers when I was trying to see what else was around. Almost no depth of bullsh1t was too much.
Also had a wander around Chinatown to see other parts of the city. Stumbled upon a whole load of watch dealers selling absolutely unadulterated sh1te.
