Update a few months on.

MBK has picked up a little as Thailand has opened up. Many of the empty spaces have been filled, although by no means all. It’s a lot busier everywhere which has to be a good thing for a country where tourism bolsters much of the economy.

Similar picture to before In MBK. One change is that the people behind M&M now have an additional shop, CandyTime, on floor 2. Same people, same honesty, same ability to get the best stuff from the leading factories. Obviously they are not a TD on here so I am not touting or promoting, just reporting my experience. Raw prices are very slightly above what you can get online. However you can negotiate, especially if buying more than one, you can do your own QC in person and there are no postage charges, delays or uncertainties.

I’ve picked up a Clean Daytona for a friend, just waiting on a custom build request of a blue 116509 dial with CF black ceramic bezel, red chrono and second hands on a BT 4130 base. There was one on the Daytona appreciation thread a little while ago and I thought I had to try. AdeG all steel Barrichello on Oyster which is nicer than the all black on a Rubber B that I got before. Very tempted by a no date Sub. Cheaper Omega No Time to Die. They were doing a roaring trade in Omega Swatches, the best reps of which do look even better than gen. But apparently almost zero margin in them.

Had some comedy exchanges at one or two other dealers when I was trying to see what else was around. Almost no depth of bullsh1t was too much.

Also had a wander around Chinatown to see other parts of the city. Stumbled upon a whole load of watch dealers selling absolutely unadulterated sh1te.

There's a 116509 exactly like you describe available through m2m right now. Just not with colored hands. Fits better imo and looks beautiful.

Thanks for the update! I just love MBK, been there thousands of times but still enjoy to shop useless things there. Never managed to buy a quality rep since the majority of stuff is only the AAA+ rubbish. Been there in April this year and found a very nice watchmaker

Thx I hadn’t seen that. UK too. I wanted the red second and chrono hands but maybe that’s an easier start point for a mod.

He seems a decent guy although I’ve not used him.

Yes agreed, most of the stuff is low to mid quality at best, but there is a limited supply of very good quality stuff there too. I’ve got plenty over the past year and a half - VSF 116610LN, Noob V4 116500 black (both pre raids when they were considered among the best ootb options), BT 116500 panda, VRF AdeG Pirlo, CF 116520 for a friend etc, and I‘ve seen and handled plenty more.

I've been stopping by this guy's shop for decades to say hello! He's a really great and friendly guy! Will mod your watches with a smile! (might scratch them up a bit too, but with a smile!)

I had a pending post about being at MBK in the last two days but seems the admins helpfully deleted it while I was sorting out my multi account situ once and for all. I can’t really be bothered reconstructing what I wrote fresh from memory now. But I did achieve actually good pricing slightly below Puretime’s for the first time ever on a ZF AP 15500 and a Clean A2836 hulk for a friend.
