So... Me personally (done a shit-load of reading even before my first post, this is my 3rd, lol), obviously I’m not talking unless I know what I’m talking about... You’ll have to forgive my lexicon, I’m an ex-patriot, Sailor (Desert Storm Vet) so I curse like one. (Like a Sailor)... But why the Fuck isn’t everyone just popping $650 for the ETA Valjoux 7753 to replace the absolute crap A7750... It’s trash, gears may as well be made of tinfoil, the mod to replicate (60-12-30 right to left chrono functions) is four gears riding on nothing but metal, no jewels... Bad metal, equals teeth simply disintegrating from the gear wheel, spindles (what the gear is placed on or grinding, grooving and the plates it’s riding on itself throw metal back into the movement... No wonder they (A7750’s) fail on delivery or months afterwards... These were not made for this watch period! THEY WERE BADDLY MODIFIED TO REPLICATE FUNCTION, not to be functional AT ALL)... My advice, if you must have a 6263, and can’t do over $1200 for a Valjoux 72, or Zenith El Primero (for those that don’t know, that’s the original movement, and you can have it decorated by Phong for about the same you paid for it.) purchase a Noob A7750 Newman Daytona, Asymmetrical Pushers, then an ETA 7753, have your local watchmaker modify it to manual: remove the rotor and the gears related to the auto wind mechanism, then replace the bridge, the rotor is a single screw (easy) auto wind gears are 3 screws. Once the bridge is removed, some of the chrono components will shift their positions (which are held in place by the bridge) & these must be reset during bridge reinstallation (so have your watchmaker do it). Then purchase a low profile case back... YOU’RE DONE!!! If you want to cut cost and have a reliable watch movement that’s the way to go... the only thing to be weary about, is you may need to purchase a new hand stack (complete hands) because the 28k beat A7750 does not have the same hole sizes as the 26k (post sizes for hands to ride upon) but that’s a $15-$20 fix. Don’t sweat it... The 7753 will accept original hands, dial, crown tube & crown etc. without any modification whatsoever.
If all you can afford is an A7750, get ready for a crash, the only way around it, is to service at $200 more or less... Have your local watchmaker take it apart and oil it immediately upon receipt, then add a thin layer of fine dry graphite lubricant on the four gears for automatic self winding movements as well their riding surfaces. Should last a year or two, then be reserviced.
