The first "tactical" knife I ever bought.

Benchmade 970 Emerson CQC7. Made prior to Ernest Emerson forming his own company.

Long since discontinued and extremely collectable. You can find them on eBay but it will run you about $300 to $500.

I have carried this nearly every day for... going on 12 years. It's what I consider to be the perfect neck knife...

Just ordered this bad boy...

Emerson Roadhouse SFS Tactical Folding Knife - Prestige Line

Not to be confused with the really awful 1989 Patrick Swayze film... I did like Sam Elliot's character though.

Jokes aside, I'd be afraid of using these things if someone attacked me. I mean what if they grab it from you and use your own knife against you?

Then you'd be "buttered" to death I suppose. Keep in mind, it would take awhile and it would probably be very personal if it happened (all jokes aside).

Thumb stud; it's for easy one handed opening. There is also a "wave" feature (behind the thumbstud) that allows the knife to open as it is drawn from a pocket.

Depends... For example, you can find a CQC7 for around $150. You can also spend over a grand depending on the knife, materials used and the quantity made.

Go to the Emerson website and shop for a model you like and then Google that in order to find a deal. Emerson generally produces knives in small batches then distributes them to select vendors. That keeps the retail relatively high. You absolutely can find deals, just have to search for them.

Found this by accident...

300-movie-replica-swords.jpg

300 Movie Replica Swords, are they worth it?

Like the Movie, the 300 Movie Replica Swords are great fantasy pieces – and a faithful ‘brought to life’ adaptation of Frank Millers Graphic (and I mean GRAPHIC) novels.

The design bears no resemblance to an actual historical Spartan swords – which were leaf shaped and quite plain and utilitarian, like the Spartan warriors themselves. (click here for information on an actual functional replica based on the historical design).

But the question that most people are asking at the moment about 300 movie replica swords for sale on the net is “are they battle ready?â€, as they are touted as being made from 'iron' or high carbon steel (depending on which website you visit).

The official 300 movie replica swords are made by a company called neca international who primarily make a range of interesting and fun collectibles including Freddy Krueger Hand Knives and the Knives from V for Vendetta - in other words, display pieces and collectibles.

Interestingly, instead of going down the most common road of using stainless steel - the official description says these swords are made from ‘iron’, but as it turns out they are actually made from high carbon steel! And this is a very positive step in the right direction for a functional replica... >>>>

I love Japanese blades. This rendition of the Americanized tanto is a perfect melding of old and new. There's subtle curvature to the blade that lends a certain elegance to the knifes brutal piercing ability as well as providing longer, smoother cuts. I really like the swedge on the tip for added strength. The 154CM steel is (with a little out of the box honing) shaving sharp. I don't always opt for serrations but I felt there was enough blade to merit their utility, plus, they ARE wicked looking. Also, the stonewash finish gives it a cool "two tone" look.

The G10 scales are coarser than those on the original Emerson knives. That, the finger choil and slight sub hilt provide an excellent grip.

This is my first Emerson with the patented "wave feature". As advertised, drawing from the pocket is just as efficient as drawing a fixed blade. As of this writing, I am now a believer.

Awesome shots, Nick! Not a fan of the American Tanto, but I do like that Emerson. Currently rocking my Benchmade 9051SBK. I love everything about it. I have a CRKT Hissatsu en route from Oregon, and a new Tek Lok clip en route from Washington (it'll be a race to see which gets here first).

Thanks again for the advice, my friend!

Boker Plus Kwaito

Again, I love Japanese influence on a blades design. Originally I had wanted to buy something similar in a custom from one of the masters, Al Polkowski. Unfortunately Mr. Polkowski passed last February. I shelved that plan until I came across the Kwaito in The Blade Forums. A Bud Nealy design (also a custom maker), you get what is essentially a $300 custom (and a crappy sheath) for around $50 to $70. As with most knives of this value and quality, I bought two.

I think I might need one of these- three times more likely to do some damage when thrown than I would with a regular knife. :)

THAT is cool. Be interested in knowing how it was used historically.

I've also been meaning to get back to that 300 Replica Sword post. We've got a number of katana on display throughout our house (no kids obviously) and I'm pretty familiar with the SBG website. I've been looking for an accurate (and reasonably priced) replication of a Roman Gladius (I love Roman military history too) used by Julius Caesar's 10th Legion.

This dude, Commando "X", #7 in the additional videos listed...

HE is feckin' scary... "out of his tits" crazy.
