Hardcore AP guys will know the difference.

I know buddy but there's like x5 people in the world that might know (and those are all members here). Lol.

Even then, it's impossible to prove shiny dial gen variation does or does not exist.

Wonder why the printing is such an issue - TF got it right.

So do you think this is the real v2 promised by Angus? The video in the above link is 15459

The problem is the tapissery, not so much the print. The tapissery on the jf 15400 is too rough. That's why from certain angles it looks like the print is bad.

Basically nobody can prove (beyond doubt) that JF blue is not a gen variation. Nobody knows what gen should look like. We're all relying on photoshopped gen images and quick glances at AD. How do we know there isn't different gen variations, from different batches with different hues/shades etc.

I personally don't give a shit about the colour but the printing and minute markers is way off

I know it because a friend of mine is a botique owner but its not allowed to share storys here (or pictures side by side) but i saw atleast 5 different blue dials in the last 3 years. So its hard to see which one JF replicated.

Minute markers is just the hardest issue. The old batch from 2013/2014 had them correct after that it goes downhill.

Gen AP logos still uses the short and the fat logos its different from batch to batch no idea why but the same happens at rolex dials (look at rolex dial Thread).

Here was a picture from a year ago Gen vs JF

Exactly. That's my point buddy. If you have personally seen x5 gen blue dial variations, then maybe there are even more variations. So, it's basically impossible to say JF blue is not gen spec colour.

A little bit more than x5, it depends where you live. There are MANY watch freaks in Miami and you would be surprised what they know about watches and with busy AD that people go to and see those gen all the time there a good chance they may notice the difference between shiny JF 15400 blue and not so shinny gen. Just saying.

Printing is an issue because of texturized surface of the dial.
I don't think I will be pulling trigger on that new version because of minute markers - I don't need two 15400 blue with fading minute markers

Yeh, totally agree man. People DO notice watches and there are plenty of watch freaks in basically all major cities in the world. However, my point is that even so called experts can't prove beyond doubt that JF dial colour/shine is not a gen batch variation. You'd get called out on numerous other JF flaws but dial colour is probably not one.

Wonder why the printing on the blue dial is so shit compared to the white. Both seem to have a rough texture.

Subscribed to this thread! ... as a newbie, my thanks ... I appreciate the evolution of the V2 via your contributions. I am waiting to place an order for 'the latest' blue JF 15400 as soon as some clarity materializes re the inferred dial redesign and/or colour tint change .... and possibly the bracelet clasp redesign as shown in the new vs old bracelet thread.

I will wait, as suggested, for an authoritative word from Angus ( sorry, I do not know his username, if other than that).

Guys I am really confused. So is the new version of 15400 out? Is this the one that JF made based on his Gen Blue dial purchase? In the past the term V2 has been used loosely for minor updates (no by TD, but in the forum).

Don't be confused because 1 or 2 members in accordance with an non resident TD decide to promote the current 15400 as the new (so waiting) V2, lol.
If you like it, just buy it, it's a great watch beside the few issues (markers & text print). But from my "experience" the resident TDs (Ryan, Angus, etc...) proudly posted always pics Gen/Rep comparison everytime JF bought a gen. So...
