Iv been told the asian 7750 movement has a 50% failure rate is this a good movement?

I had plenty that feel like gravel inside and send them off to VAC and they come back smooth as silk. He has some kind of very tiny fairies that go in there and clean and oil everything. Quite amazing.

I have bought about lots of watches with friends. Failure rate on ETA clones has been 1 in 20. Failure rate on A7750 has been 10 in 20 approx. I no longer buy watches with A7750 movement.

I have several A7750 reps. Every single one has some kind of issue. If you put your A7750 on a winder, every single one I own will get stuck. You have to bump it or smack it on the side and it kicks starts again. I replaced one with an ETA 7750. It worked perfectly. I won't buy another A7750.

I've had 4 a7750s -- 3 pams (seconds at 9) and a B&R (seconds at 3). Two of the pams are dead. The other Pam (~6 years old) and the B&R (~3 years old) are still going strong. So the 50% fail rate sounds about right to me, lol.

So far I have had around 10+ watches with a7750 movement. They are working fine so far. It's just sometimes the chrono subdial does not reset to 0 properly, but it does not bother me really much. Point being, this movement is a workhorse as long as you do not really play with the chronograph imho

Thats because A7750 only winds in ONE direction. Is your winder set to be rotated both directions with enough TPD? I have over 30 7750 based watches...........yes 30 currently. Had over 50 total easily. Out of that I would say I've had problems with 10 or so. The rest have been reliable. Mostly issues with Sec@12 APs.

I'm tempted by the big Noob AP sale but not sure about the risk of an A7750 with seconds at 12...

I didn't know that. Which direction should it go in? Some of my reps wind OK. some don't.

I have had plenty of 7750's, some good, some bad. You have to accept that if it's not dead on arrival it will die. In a couple of days, a month..........but it will die!

If it has a 50% failure rate there is a guy out there with a box full of broken watches. I've had at least 8 7750 (all sec@9) and never had a failure

Hmmm, that's not very reassuring. (My current watch is an Asian 7750 w seconds at 12:00).

If the A7750 dies can it be replaced easily with a real ETA 7750? I see them on ebay for $300-500 and it would ease my mind as a fall back position if I could fix it myself or get it fixed for a few hundred bucks. I would probably spring for that IWC Pilot 3777 if that was the case. For $350 for the watch and then another $500 if it breaks I could have a pretty reliable IWC clone. Sounds not too bad.

Can someone explain to me what the secs @9, @6, etc etc means please? Not sure on this terminology and I've just purchased an A7750 Daytona.

The subdial that has the running second hand is located either at the 9 o'clock position or 6, respectively.
