I never see this in person but the spec sheet said the thing is 300g. Also, it looks kinda weird IMO, 50mm case but the dial is not that big.

Got any pic of the rep on your wrist?
Oh no - not a deep sea challenge. I wish :). Just the regular. I've got a 7 3/4" wrist and I think it would look nice (have some dive watches with a 50mm dial). What I don't have is the 30k to buy one. Is the Challenge currently in production? I was under the impression that it was sort of a one-time gimmicky production thing.

I know they make Deepsea independent from Sea Dweller as a separate line, but IDK if the Deepsea Challenge discon or not. ATM, quite a few watch trading platforms like C24 still have it.

Looks like it is a regular production piece. I haven’t seen one under 40k. Needless to say I have a 2021 12660 that I got off the grey market for about $9500.

Who needs a garage for their car when you can store your watch collection in it instead?

Sorry - that triggers me because they're not arranged in chronological order . . .

I was a watch nerd when I was a kid. Then I turned 16 and my interest in girls ruined that and most of my other hobbies (I guess depending how you look at it).

Now I'm 40 and I started nerding out on watches a few months ago. Started with buying a gen Deep Sea off the grey market (I'm a bigger guy, so was pleasantly surprised that the largest Rolex watch is currently not super 'desirable').

From there, I got paranoid that my watch wasn't real. Started heavily researching replicas, and in my search, felt sort of dumb that I bought a gen to begin with.

My journey started on Reddit, but for many reasons, it's very hard to figure out what vendors are legit and which are scams. Stumbled upon a post about RWI and here I am. It's been less than a week and I have bought 3 reps :). Knowing my personality, I'll probably buy several more.

Reasons why I'm moving to reps:

  • AD attitude. I really have to kiss up to some AD and buy a bunch of garbage I don't want just so that I can wait months or years for a $10k watch? No thanks. Out of pure principal
  • The movements coming from China are pretty legit. With the new machinery, one could argue that a superclone rep could last as long as a gen (ok maybe i'm pushing it here)
  • I'm truly interested in doing some of the servicing / modding myself, and doing it on a $500 piece is a little less daunting then a $10k piece.
  • I'm like a bull in a China shop sometimes, and wearing a $10, $20, or $30k watch on my wrist is a bit problematic

I'm glad I came across this group. It's probably saved me $50k dic*ing around with Rolex ADs.
This is the very same journey that I have now found myself on!

I really despise the having to kiss AD's behinds to spend my money, especially when most of the sales associates probably couldn't afford to walk in off the street and buy one. I should be grateful that you will allow me to spend my money in your store, I don't think so!

Exactly. And for me a gen Rolex purchase would be a bit of a splurge/impulse buy. Like I get my quarterly stock bonus or something like that. If you give me 2 years to think about it, I'll probably rationalize in my head that I should get a Grand Seiko ... or Rep :). Like - if they made you wait a half hour to buy McDonalds - I wonder how many people would just make better choices lol.

I would be interested to know just how many people have turned to clone watches because of AD attitude/waitlists.

There are people on this forum creating and selling $4,000 franken watches. Sure, there will always be people trying to buy $100 knock-offs, but the $500+ rep market is a completely self-inflicted wound.

MSRP of the Deepsea is $15k. MSRP of the Deepsea Challenge is $35k. Apparently it's in all titanium. That's still a lot of money for 6 extra mm :)
