Hytrel bezel retaining rings

I installed one on a aftermarket bezel I found on eBay which is advertised as a 1:1 replacement: BEZEL I have a Gen Insert which I'll be using with this bezel.

The bezel gasket was tricky to install, but once installed on the bezel the fit seems very secure. I slid the bezel with the gasket over the small end a Gen Retaining Ring, the bottom side, just to see how it fit. So far so good. Once the retaining ring is pressed onto the case, over the crystal and gasket, I expect it will expand a bit and of coarse I will have to press the bezel with gasket over the large end of the retainer, so that step is still untested since I’m waiting for a gen crystal and crystal gasket set.
I'm doing this on a Noob V8 114060.
...BTW, the same seller of the aftermarket bezel also sells single bezel gaskets: BEZEL GASKET but they don't have the built in spline so the profile is just square and the whole gasket fits in the slot, it didn't seem to sit very securely, prone to coming out of the slot when pressing on over the retainer ring and not as thick or sturdy as the ones with the spline., so I wouldn't recommend one of those.
I don't have a Gen Bezel Insert to compare to so maybe SRHOQUE can chime in and describe the profile of his Gen Bezel Gasket.

I was lucky enough to get one for the GMT in Dec 2019 on ebay. This is the part number if anyone wants to know.

Hello srhoque, did the package include 2 gaskets?
whar was the price if you don’t mind me asking?
I found a dealer in EU selling a blister pack with 2 gaskets inside for €100 + shipping, seems quite high

I have never been able to use the ebay aftermarket bezel gaskets (hytrel rings) with any rep bezel. The spline is not useful, it leaves an air gap above and below it inside the groove. Rep hytrel rings are mostly square in shape, filling their grooves fully without any loose movement inside. Additionally, the ebay gaskets are too short in height and too narrow in width to be functional at all. They've gotten swallowed whole in every bezel groove I've ever put them in. Rep hytrel rings are perfect for what they do, the problem is they often get damaged after being removed once and they are not available anywhere as a spare part.

I thought I might have finally found a use for one recently in the horrible new Noob bezels. I turned the gasket so it was spline up after thinking the shape would actually be beneficial. Nope. It was too large a diameter to fit the space. You can jam it all in but then the bezel won't rotate.

If you aren't aware of how the new Noob GMT (and maybe Sub) bezels are designed, prepare to be shocked. It's incredible.

Yes, the Rolex blister package comes with 2. I paid the same close to what is being quoted for you. They are expensive and almost impossible to source.

Dr. Funsocks,

If I sent you a .STEP file of the bezel gasket for a noob submariner would that help?

The only ring I have access to is cut, so I’ll have to base the diameter off of the crystal retaining ring and the ID of the bezel groove and the ID of the bezel itself.

I can measure the profile of the L with calipers.

Noob bezel gasket is not the same size as the gen, noob is thicker, the slot in the Noob bezel is also bigger than gen.

Yeah by the sound of it the gen is an L shape and the rep is a rectangular profile. I mean what ever you need i can make as long as you provide me with dimensions. Ill be doing all the turning manually, if you can just add dimensions to the below drawing ill be able to machine it. Just let me know the od, id, h, x and y. H is meant to be overall height, its hard drawing on a phone sorry!

up2wind is the 32.25 on the arf and 31.28 on the zzf the inner or outer diameter? What is the other measurement (if thats the id whats the od?)

Opss missed that. The above pics are inner diameter. I will post outer diameter later. Tq

Cheers mate much appreciated

Many rep gaskets will have an L shape to them. ARF and Noob do. There is not going to be consistency between factories unfortunately, or even between versions from the same factory as we've seen with the Noob Pepsi. That gasket is very different from the Noob V9. The Noob and the ARF fit in the space in opposite orientations too (ARF V2 vs Noob V9), Noob is "bottom step" down, toward the case, ARF is "top step down.

Making a prototype from gen measurements might be a good starting point, then we can document which models/versions it works for and make modifications as necessary.

Tickleshoes has already made one of these with a 3D printer, maybe we could get some info

KJ2020 i was wondering how the orientation would vary. Seems its a lot more complex than machining a little ring to sit in a gap! Ill have a go later at making one for my gmf batman and report back.

Now thats what im talking about! Proper engineering drawing! Cheers mate, if you ever need one, first one is free for such a valuable contribution. Same applies to @up2wind

Would love you to make me first article so I can try it and make sure it’s what we want.

If anyone else wants to send rings my way, I’ll take measurements, make prints, 3d cad file and maintain a database in excel. And send the rings back
