Is there a difference? I'm really interested in buying a HBB with Rose Gold but not plated. I'm looking for the Gold Ceramic; but is there a difference in the Gold Colored Ceramic and "Magic Gold"?

Also what gen's were made with this Gold colored ceramic or "Magic Gold"?

thanks for your help

Hey Causer I have the same question and I think I'm looking for the same watch.

I have a question about this watch, I see that there are couple different options.

Which one is better between the following options.

* Full rose gold ceramic case (not plated gold but full ceramic in rose gold color)

* 316L steel with rose gold coated

I'm looking for the most accurate one and best quality, I don't know if with the gold coated is better because the "Gold" color actually have gold or the ceramic one.

Could some body help me with this. I love this watch and I want to make a good choise.

From what I understand the 'Magic Gold' used by Hublot is a mixture of Ceramic and 18K gold... to remain a hallmarkable precious metal... there has to be either 750 parts per thousand... ... then there is the Vickers measurement of strength... Golds around 140.... 316F is about 240 and MG is around a 1000..

This mix makes the metal unscratchable according to Hublot.... Thats why they used Rose gold before as the copper content makes gold harder... etc

Of course standard 18K gold is mixed as well to make it harder for everyday use as gold is soft... this is the same amount... ie 750 per 1000

The rep gold ceramic... and as far as I know there is only one model available using this currently.... Angus has it..

Here is link

http://puretime.co/product/big-bang-rose-gold-cf-black-dial-full-rg-ceramic/

This is a coloured through ceramic.... so basically they dont follow the part ratio above... they add say X% of the gold they use to plate other steel models... they mix this with the ceramic which when harden gives the ceramic a gold look either when brushed or polished.. Its much more resilient than plated steel but most importantly the gold doesnt wear off like the plated gold will do after periods of wear...

Both types in terms of colour are slightly off gen but I would defy 99.9% of the world to notice it on the wrist.... of course weight varies to the gen and would be an instant tell to anyone who knows how gold feels but again it wouldnt be that many...

I would prefer the RG ceramic personally....

The extent of the wear on SS plated is variable depending on factory version etc.. but with the ceramic.... you could double it treble it and on and on...

The gen Magic Gold looks almost fake... its weird when you look at it... its very cheap looking but at the same time very very blingy...

As for models... the Hublot site and gen forums discuss this extensively... but its only recent (Last couple of years)

There are several gens using MG mate... I know there is a couple of KPs but not sure why you would want the rep of one..

I am a bit confused.. Given how I understood your question..

Plus those reps are more inaccurate because of the 1/8 sec sub dial... These fly round on the gen but are the secs on the rep..

Puretime no longer stocks the above RG Ceramic model based on the response I got last week from them. If you hear differently please prove me wrong!

Hi,

as I only have 7 of these, some little input:

- They are not made anymore, but dealers like tio sell the RG-plated ones as such!
- this is not the same as the gen "Magic Gold"
- The ceramic is NoT coloured through, it is only surfaced RG, but its still very VERY scratch resistent. My daily beater for 3 years can be found here:

http://forum.replica-watch.info/vb/showthread.php/rg-ceramic-hbb-108826?t=108826

P.S. I transformed all my HBB's into these cases:

Angus sent me the link saying he could get it.... I copied the link from his email..

I am sure no one could even think anything on the reps is like Magic Gold...except maybe that they both look Cheap (Argos Gold we call it)

Interesting Dutchy.... If its not coloured through.... Then it's just plated?

If its just plated then how can it be any different to SS plated..

The ceramic aspect in that case would not be relevant to the wear of the plate..

It would be like wrapping an orange and a brick in cling film and saying the cling film on the brick is stronger wearing than the clingfilm on the orange... Unless the properties of the covering/plate are different then the covering/plate will act and react in the same way...

If both are just plated then one cannot be tougher than the other... As they both have the same material actually in contact with the surface... If the gold wears down on the steel then it will do the same on ceramic as there is nothing that changes the properties of the gold plate...

On that basis it makes no odds which you buy...

Its not plated with x-microns, it add/attched during the ceramic heating process its just not through and through.... and it last... and lasts... pm me your QC pics for review. The 3 sets he sent where all RG-plated....

Sorry mate but that still don't make sense to me considering your first reply...

If the gold didnt mix or was the same gold content as The plate it would still be the same hardness only plated/attached differently to the surface material...

The plating itself could only be harder/stronger if it's a different material or has different properties and therefore the hardness (vickers) is higher... Like say PVD and DLC... If the gold plate is the same as you say then it has the same hardness...(vickers)

you say that it is added into the heating process if thats correct then its a through colour as this allows the ceramic to absorb the gold... So a through colour... As I said before...

Hi,

not sure what you do not understand. Plating is very thin and wears off, RG-ceramic is not through&through RG, but only layered on/into(see below pic). It is much harder as it is baked into the case material...

Make sence?

Angus is 100% that this is the RG colored ceramic http://puretime.co/product/big-bang-rose-gold-cf-black-dial-full-rg-ceramic/

What are the flaws of this generation of replicated HBB?

Flyingdutchman - I love your RG collection!! If you're selling any, please pm me!!

Hi,

THANKS! This watch is about the RG-ceramic casing, other wise it is a V2 = same mistakes...

As to QC pics, I just got some from "a dealer" that states RG-ceramic and they where 100% not! PM me yours, for review!

Hi following a conversation with Angus he assures me he can get the RG-ceramic version, I expect I will get QC pics next week so would certainly appreciate you casting your seasoned eye over them.

Thanks for your help flyingdutchman. The analysis indicates that parts are RG ceramic but not the whole case as stated in the website description. Sharrkey, PM me an email address and I'll send you some pics/details.
