How does it feel

I'm a newbie in this hobby, I collect some gen watch though (rolex, omega, breitling). I like Panerai design but I think they're overpriced and with my small wrist, I'm not really sure yet that they will fit me well (for a real daily use, not just trying it on AD). That's why I'm about to buy super reps Pam (Noob 111/176/356) first. I'm wondering with these supposedly high quality rep, how does it feel in your hand, does it feel real to you ?. Of course I understand that 'feel' is very subjective but still I would like to hear your personal experience. Thanks

I love my super reps (111,390,292). They still do have flaws but they feel amazing on the wrist. And once you get yourself a strap that just works for you, you'll never want to take it off.

yes strap is very important. You can buy them from bronzy or anchor straps here on the forum. Change the entire look of the watch. My 111 is on a bright red strap and my 360 dark asso. 390 is my next one to get. I have 6.8 inch wrist Pam fits very good.

So one of the keys seems is in the strap, how about the weight, crystal reflection etc ?, is there a feel that you're actually wearing a luxury watch ?. Once again I know this is subjective, but let's share the feelings ;)

These days reps are getting so close that it will be almost impossible for you to tell without having the genuine item right next to it. Especially Panerai because PAM reps are soo sooo good. The weight/feel should be almost identical to the gram. This is why they are called super-reps 1:1 copies almost except obviously the movement.

Buy a PAM111/005 or some model with closed caseback and considered a super-rep. You wont buy the real thing anymore.

Interesting, so if we compare the external look of super reps side by side with the gen, the difference will still be quite visible then ?. Since I read in Panerai reference guide by Ale that "SUPER REPS – reps very close to the gen in materials, external look (even in side by side comparison)",By the way thanks for the model suggestion Peter

I don't have a genuine PAM but I've worn a gen PAM422. Aside from the obvious tells in the movement in the PAM372 (the last Puretime one before this new rep with the super clone movement), the feeling that I got was very similar to wearing the gen. I did the opposite and let my acquaintance wear the rep PAM372. He was visibly impressed.

Thanks Mysterio, that kind of experience that I need to hear as well, feeling of wearing a gen and a rep. I was affraid it'll feel cheap after putting it on wrist, then would never wear it, and wasting a few hundreds $

Well, even before I got to wear any gen PAMs, the super rep PAMs (PAM026, PAM005, PAM243, PAM390 (1st class but very well made), PAM127, PAM372 and PAM332 (another nicely made 1st class rep)) I've worn felt pretty substantial and worth the money I spent.

You need to understand that these aren't cheap watches. Yes, they do not go for gen prices but 300-600 isn't a cheap price tag. the average person who wears a watch probably wears something in the 75-200 range. obviously if you were to buy a canal street rep in new york you are going to get that cheap feel to it. But even some of the higher end "cheap" 2813 21j movement watches have a great feel to them. I love my reps and actually wear them way more than I do my gen Corum. If you end up with a PAM rep, whether it be a first class rep or super rep, you'll really enjoy it. And as I mentioned before, get a nice quality strap (as others have mentioned, there are some forum members who make wonderful custom straps...I have a Bronzy on my 390 and it absolutely makes the watch).

Ive owned many gen pams in the past years. I can only say that on the wrist, they don't feel different at all, gen or rep. Its just the matter of acceptance if u can live with those flaws or not.

Anyway, its always a good idea to try on some reps before taking the plunge on the gens on what ur not quite sure yet.

So basically you guys doesn't feel that you are wearing a lesser watch than a gen when you were wearing these super reps then ?

Simple advice... see for yourself... if not your cup of tea and you've taken care not to scratch or ding your reps... they are easy to resell here for very little loss on your end.

To be honest, even the non "super reps" feel great on the wrist. I am wearing my 505KW as I type this and love the feel and presence of the watch. I do agree though with projectologist....Buy one and try it on. If you dont like it just resell it and a minimal loss. But if you decide to go this route, get one that is a desirable model (ie. 111Nv3 or 388KW)

Well I'm indeed just confirmed an order for PAM 356 Noob (considered as super reps in Ale referrence). I just want to put my expectation of this buying to be proportional

No. I could hand you several different watches, giving you both the gen and rep of the exact same model and you would not be able to tell me which was which. You will be shocked how little if any difference there is.
