Wow that is so much cheaper than a TD, I am going to china next year, I really need to look hard to find a good watch while I am there.

Was it a A2836? or SA 3130?

But it's not about the money, it's about the experience. Fun and travel. You'll remember this for the rest of your life. Think of the stories you will tell your grand children.

A2836 I was told. But again, without a TD or skills to tell the difference, I'm not 100% sure. :)

if you set the date, rotate the crown clockwise, the time should also rotate clock wise if its SA3135, if crown is counter clockwise then its A2836.

Having a story behind the watch is well worth the extra time and money spent.

You'll be reminded every time you look down to check the time.

Congrats!

Still kinda seems like it more hassle than its worth does it not?

for 100Cny savings sorry I'd rather click on a Checkout button on my browser.

This said, if I'm there and i have nothing better to do I'd gladly take a stroll there. Buying something is another story

Interesting to see we have a division between folks who appreciate an adventure and just want to buy a watch.
I had a great time in Shanghai shopping. People were nice and fun to deal with.

I agreed the experience is very cool. I would do the same as the OP. But only once. I don't particularly enjoy the haggling and pressure selling. Also, I am not very knowledgeable on reps, and I don't like to be duped on sales (most of these vendor are sharks and love to part as much money from you as they can).

Must be a different market. The salesladies I've encountered were not "nice" and "fun". I mean don't get me wrong, there was no physical harm involved but the exercise of picking a shop to enter, finding a watch you like and then negotiating a price isn't a pleasurable one. The salesladies try and convince you to get another watch when you can't find one you like, and then when you find something you like, you then have to go through the haggling. You don't die from the first try, but it's exhilarating afterwards when you finally get a watch and the next one you go to, you are better prepared.

Kinda like the roller coaster equivalent of watch buying.

precisely this. Not pleasant at all.

Now if you tell me I could find a JF bumblebee (e.g.) for 200$ well I'd probably go through the effort...but in principle i would personally not treasure the hassle
