I have been there about 3 times , it's near the railway station in Guangzhou,Zhanxi st , you are going to be bewildered and confused. It is not what you expect , there are no signs , you will just stumble into a vast network of side streets , the replica are all off the street , upstairs in small rooms, so you will need to go with a Chinese person and trust them to bring you there, it's nearly impossible unless you can speak Chinese and know exactly the quality you are looking for but enjoy the experience

Ok.... First, the watch. I think I got a Noob 114060. I paid 1750cyn for it.
I got a junker YMII for 300 cyn. really junk. Either a gift for a friend or a blue watch to go with my blue clothes...

I think I will have no problem getting it past customs on my way home.

Ok story time.

In HK/Shenzhen for work. Had a Sunday to kill. Woke up early today in HK. 6am. caught a 2 hour 7:30 am train to Guangzhou for $30.
Got to GZ around 9:30 am. grabbed a cab and booked it to Watch City. Shops left and right. Most notably was the two types of shops... those that sold the same thing as 90% of the shops and specific shops only selling specific parts.
I was after a Noob 114060 and nothing else. I quickly figured out that no one had what I wanted but everyone could 'get one' it would take them 9 hours to 'get it' not going to work as I had to leave at 3:00. My guess was I was talking to the wrong person
What really helped was a picture of the 114060.

About 6 people offered me lower end reps. They almost immediately backed off when I said I wanted 'better quality' with a scowl. Some said "No Have"
I found a lady who said follow me.
Down a hall
Out the door
across the street
Into second building
downstairs
across the floor
up 2 sets of stairs
up 5 floors in an escalator
across the floor again
down a hall
knock on a door
into a vault-like room
many watches
all on display were nicer than street level. but no super reps.
I once again scowl and say I need better

They ask me to wait here. 5 min later he returns with a bag of NOOB watches.
Pulls out my 114060.

For pricing, I used a quote I got from WatchOutlet and subtracted 100cyn. Held firm. Guy started at 2,550cyn. I did not budge. After 5 min of him trying to get me higher, he rolled his eyes, bagged it up and counted my 1750. I felt like $1M. :)
Headed downstairs. Wanted to find a great leather strap. But I was spent. grabbed a cab and headed to where I am now, in a $100/night 5 star hotel.

Thanks everyone for your help. It was an awesome adventure. Learned a lot. Will not soon forget it. Should have this watch for some time looking sharp on my wrist!
I should be coming here every 4-6 months and will scoop up 1-2 reps every time.
What should I get next?
I was thinking about a Glashutte Original Senator Navigator or IWC Portuguese... I can't believe I am thinking about my next watch already :)

I completely understand the adventure.

I used to travel a lot for work.

Once after a month in Osaka I got it into my head I wanted an American cheeseburger... a $100 cab ride later (the driver got lost) I started walking and found myself wandering Tobita Shinchi when a local speaking perfect English (who I suspect was a Yakuza affiliate) pulled over in a big black car, inquired what the heck I was doing in that particular "neighborhood", and after a pleasant chat offered to take me to a nearby restaurant where a chef friend of his personally ground up a Kobe steak into hamburger and cooked us both an amazing cheeseburger while we discussed business and the world. That was probably the most expensive American-style cheseburger I've ever had... but is also a story I'll never forget :D

OP hit it out of the park. Got the watch, got a good price (using watchoutlet price as the benchmark is brilliant), and has a great story to tell.

It seems like if you are in the area, know what you are looking at, and know what you should pay that this side trip would be fun. I hope to see more members have a similar experience in the future.

Is it a pain in the a... to get a visa for China? And where do you get it when traveling from HK to mainland China?

I needed to be in Shenzhen for work so a lot of the travel pain was inevitable

Re visa
$200
10 business days
Easy
Defiantly needed

Google it
Get it a head of time

There is no way you will pay what some of these TDs ask, you may not find exactly what you want but there is no way you should pay 300+ dollars.

You think they sell more on the street or online?
