got it on eBay for 300$.
I know it is as much as the watch itself, but the feeling is worth it (to me)

Its completely understandable, I paid a fair bit and bought a few gen straps from AP AD before and they too cost as much as my watch sometimes.

The gen AP rubber and rep AP rubber is big difference IMO, after a year or two when its seasoned you can see that the gen gets shinier and the grains on it are very prominent, which adds a whole lot of depth and detail. While the rep rubber on the other hand, is flat looking.

I assume that was 300 without the clasp? I'm surprised to hear that the gen rubber is more comfortable; mine is super comfy. Glad you love it :)

The difference is not a major one, I admit, just incremental, but still works for me.

Hi guys

Just read through all 13 pages of this thread and i'd just like to confirm one thing before I go ahead and purchase one of these beauties.

As far as i can see, the V6F V2 is the best aquanaut atm available

http://www.tb-688.com/index.php?route=product/product&path=102_220&product_id=523

this one here right?

Everyone here seems to say the SW200 is the one to go for but is it really $200 better then the regular ol Asian-ETA?

Is the dial identical, and its just the date wheel thats different? (if so, is it a big difference?)

And otherwise are there any other differences (other then the fact its a swiss movement so I assume its more reliable)

I ask because $200 is almost another watch and if the differences are really minute I dont see the point to get that over the normal Asian-ETA

Thanks

First off - great GREAT job reading through everything! Most don't.

@Nivka did some research and determined that it looks like the A2824 dial is the same as the SW200 movement. I would argue the main difference of the SW200 vs A2824 is I think (not certain) it's a bit slimmer, and definitely has the best date font. I haven't tried the TDs recently, but it seems like all signs point to V6 not making the Aquanaut any longer. They have some remaining stock of the blue dial, but both versions of the V6F Aquanaut are out of stock at all TDs. It's still worth talking with Toro and seeing if by chance they are back in stock, but I wouldn't be too hopeful.

The BP version doesn't look bad, but the dial isn't as nice, the date font is a bit smaller, and it's a bit thicker.

Thanks for the quick response, since the last post was in July i wasnt sure if i'd get an answer quick but the RWI community is brilliant as always haha

Toro says its in stock on their website but it could be an error, I guess i'll message them and ask.

@Nivka, did you have any photos of your watch you could post, if you still have it? Would love to have a look at it, it seems like all the pics in this thread are of the sw200 version.

Wow thanks so much for that link to the thread, its so indepth! As far as I can see other then the date wheel they look more or less the same, How has your 2824 held up with regards to accuracy over time vs your sw200?

It's an amazing watch. The only relevant difference between the two versions I can think of is thickness, although both movements are clones of the same ETA so there probably isn't a difference.

In terms of movement reliability; both are supposed to be good normally. However quickly after I received my sw200, I noticed some damage on one of the movement wheels. This is a common problem with the sw200. It cost me some 50 extra Euros to have it fixed. So things can go wrong with the more expensive sellita.

If I were to choose now, I would save me some money with the Asian movement...

Cheers

My pleasure. Both watches keep excellent time; they are great movements so there shouldn't be a problem there.

WRT thickness, both are within 0.1mm so that's a non-issue too. If you want to save $200, the a2824 is a good sacrifice. FWIW though, sead gave me a great price on the sw200 and it was only about $100 more in the end. For me that was worthwhile for the better movement and DWO font.
