oh for sure ..that works.. but I think this is like sticking some flame stickers onto a car to make it faster, haha ;-)

Haha, another hidden trick for sure. PITA to get the position right but it can be done without damaging the gen DW from further use in a 31xx.

It has to be glued on the 2824 DW as an overlay.

This. Gen DW and gen crystal is a must on every single Rolex rep with a cyclops. No rep comes close and it’s an instant tell

is this what you ordered? It’s supposed to have the A2836 movement, not the A2824 timebomb movement
http://jtime.cc/us/gmt-master-ii-126...let-a2836.html

not sure if you have seen shigetty’s posts in the earlier pages. If you are in the same boat as him, you can probably get it resolved since it’s the same TD
https://forum.replica-watch.info/for...ovement/page58

I explicitly ordered a VR3185 in a GMF v3 - as they are recently shipped out by the factories.

Li did offer me cancellation or change to another watch... but I just GL‘d the first watch Lana showed me (with the old SA3186 movement).

Now waiting for the Pepsi to arrive.

Does anyone know which TD is selling the GMF v3 with the VR3185. I‘m still looking for a BLNR bat girl.

Does anyone know if a GMF v3 can take a gen bezel?

All TD's get the same stock from the same factory. They ask GMF for a V3. What they get for a particular order depends on what the factory delivers for that order.

At least with the SA3186 (a true V3), you can swap in a VR3185. That isn't easily done with an ETA case.

Oic. I just got a GMF batgirl with the A2836 from chazingtime. If you don’t mind ICHS, non-gen operation of the crown and tall crystal, I highly recommend it.

IMO, it’s flawed beauty but with flaws which I can live with...LOL

Makes sense. Thanks for the info.

So if Li‘s info is correct, GMF doesn’t have this movement available at the moment.

How much is a VR3185? And where can I order it? Sorry for these questions.... still new to this business.

The VR3185 movement is abundantly available. GMF is choosing not to continue using it, IMO. They probably ran out of stock on the SA3186 and just used the VR3185 briefly to fill a gap. Then someone got the bright idea to slip in the 2824 timebombs at 1/3 the cost and still charge V3 prices. Pretty shameful overall. Also gives the TD's major headaches and not their fault at all.

Great seller - verify exact specs ahead of time

The gen 126710 3285 movement sets time forward with anti-clockwise crown rotation so you got that aspect over the true clone 3185/6 movements. They are the non gen-like ones in that regard on a 1267xx rep. This is opposite of how the gen 1167xx 3185/6's set time.

Also, a Clark's or other gen-spec crystal will fix that unsightly high sitting stock one.

Thanks KJ for the clarification!

For the non-gen operation, I was referring to the A2836 in crown position 2 which can quick adjust the date in 1 direction while adjust the GMT hand in the other direction. For the gen 3186/3285, I recall crown position 2 can only adjust the jumping hour hand.

Yes, I took your advice and got myself a Clark b25-295-CAR crystal which is 1.8mm. Also ordered 2 gaskets (3mm and 2.85mm) to see if I can further lower the crystal without hitting the sec hand.

The xtal height in the second photo looks great! Did you have to lower the sec hand? What gasket thickness did you use?

Clark seems to have limited stock of the crystal. It’s been out of stock for the past few weeks and when i ordered it, there were only 2 pcs left.

So, I just ordered the V3 CHNR. I guess I should expect to see the SA movement instead of the VR movement.

I used 2.85mm gasket and no second hand shave needed on my GMF. YMMV. The reduction of crystal thickness from 2.0 to 1.8mm helps too.

I hope you get at least that bro. It comes the other way too. I don't like what GMF is doing here.

oh, I'm aware, and I'm leery. I'm certainly being charged more than the $298. I'm going to have Lana take the case back off and send pics of the movement during QC. I'll post em here once I get them so everyone can see what I'm offered. If it comes with the SA, I'll run it until it give me a problem. If the gold holds up well, I'll replace with a VR movement then.

I've exchanged a couple messages with prof regarding the crystal height. He indicated that he has some crystals with increased magnification. Maybe that could counter the lower crystal height. Do you have any experience with cyclops that vary this way? I'm wondering if it'll result in weird distortion when looking at it on an angle.

There are a lot of factors that come into play when you start messing with crystal heights, date magnification being one of the most important. Factories tend to try to optimize the appearance for a particular model. So things can get totally unacceptable when reducing the height as much as I did on that GMF. I've also seen more than a few examples of that on the ARF 116710 LN. People installing Prof or gen crystals are ending up with 2.0 mag looking dates. So a 3.0 mag cyclops might be the answer. I don't have experience with doing that but I have had cyclops changes for other reasons and I can tell you that even the pros are not perfect at gluing a new cyclops on. It's pretty tricky business and can end up a little messy especially if AR is involved. I wouldn't do it again unless the crystal came from the factory with the 3.0 mag cyclops installed.

Agreed, had a prof crystal installed on my ARF GMT and now the magnification is 2x. I can live with it but a fair warning to others that it's not a simple matter.

I agree, it's tricky. I'm not wanting to get off topic, but I'm hoping for a "middle ground" between the high crystal and 2.5x mag. I'm wanting to get into working on my own watches, but I think I'll leave this one to prof once he knows what I'm looking for. Thanks guys!
