W O W!!!

Hey Buffe, why you will build homages instead of a replica? I mean, why you're not printing AP logo in the dial? you will sell them better and you will be taking a big market share from Noob...

Because I don't want to go to jail......:) It is not part of the idea to make reps with these. Making homages is already dangerous enough as it is.

Holes were filled, and CNCed again to enlarge the hex size so that we could do the screw fittings. Bezel test finishing done on sample, we will compare the brushing with the gen when we receive it.

Pushers/ crown/ screws samples have been confirmed and being process. Glass sample is done and on the way. Rubber gaskets have been confirmed and awaiting payment.

We will know next week whether we have the screw holes done correctly.

Yeah, it's not as easy for this watch because of so many parts and the complicated shape. After we get the screw positions correct, then we have to check the pusher and crown heights with a test fit.

We just received confirmation that the homage dials can be done well, without much molding so that's a plus. The hands should be no problem as well, but we need to confirm the drawings first. We have one other thing that we are working on, but that's gonna be a big surprise at the end...... :)

Buff, is it possible for the hommage to have a correct dial position tho?

Well, that is an interesting item. It is only possible if we modified the movement plates. It's not impossible, just more complicated. For a homage I am not sure anyone would care.

Well, sample arrived and we did a test fit. Here are the pics:

Here are our observations from this mock caseup. Do note only the bezel is after market, the rubber and main case are gen.

1) The screws fit perfectly and the diameter of the screw spacing is spot on. We can proceed with the other parts with greater assurance
2) What everyone is talking about the bezel screws being sunken in is misleading.
3) Rubberclad and stainless steel bezels are different heights!!!
4) Rubberclad and stainless steel bezel screw hole depths are different!
5) Even the screws are different.

We originally measured the rubberclad assuming they would be the same for the stainless but we were wrong. Do note that the screws are sunken very slightly (0.05mm) for the rubber clad. HOWEVER, for the stainless, the screws protrude ever so slightly and are mostly flush.

The rubberclads are 0.4mm thicker than the stainless steel.

We are proceeding with the rubber parts/ gaskets now, should have the samples in a week. We will continue on with the remainder of the case, main body and caseback.

The good news really is that we had the OCD correct which was our biggest concern. The bezel also sits nicely on the rubber gasket and the glass fits it perfectly.

Superb! Can't wait to see more progress.. And true enough rubberclads are different depths.

Timing of this is fantastic as I am just about finished with collecting the parts for multiple Frankens.

I'll do a side-side comparison with gen/ rep once our case sets are completed. Right now it's still early days as after molding, the finishing still needs to be scrutinised.
