Good to know that u handled one. I know u did. I own one so I must be terribly blind not to see the AR. Either that, mine does not come with one. My fiddy is with Rob for that "extra TLC".

You sure you got the latest EL's "Sept 2006 Fiddy" with updated Swiss E-series mov't ? Could it be that his distributor sent you a slightly diferent model... :?
Judging by some recent responses it looks like EL hasn't been very consistent with his latest "the best" Fiddy. The one I had came with very dark yellow indices, pretty bad IMO, something his pictures don't show. They depict a model with the correct crisp off-white C3 daytime lume.

Let us know.

That movement can be problematic according to Ziggy due to incorrect hairspring near swan neck. Also, screws on the 2 wheels should be SS and not blue.

EL's movement is slightly different.

The movement in question is a hybrid Asian/Swiss ETA 6497-1 OPXI mov't, and I agree, it can be (and it was) problematic, although those issues identified originally by Ziggy and Mark (finepics) don't seem to be evident any more...maybe a dodgy initial V1.0 batch or who knows.

So far I know for certain that this movement comes with an old (50-60 yrs ago) ETA style 6497 baseplate, with the dial retention screws on the sides of the base and features ETA movements sported long time ago. All the rest is ASIAN, all drivetrain including gears, mainspring, regulator, bridges, decorations etc.

After months of research and literaly 100s of emails exchanged on this particular topic in the past, I'd call this 2/3 Asian 1/3 Siwss HYBRID but some may disgree..of course 8)

It's also a very high-quality Asian mov't as well according to watchmakers that stripped it appart.

What (still) makes me angry is the fact dealers still seem to push this as a Swiss ETA... :x
