Why spray paint ?
That way you'll get "gold colour" but you'll never get a polished surface ... so it won't catch the light.
If you don't want to go the "gold plated way" you'd better just mirror polish the copper dial plate.
But, as far as I know, it seems "gold plated" is the "French Touch" on gilt dials [emoji39]

You're welcome François [emoji4]
So it seems you've leaved your politic career to get involved in reps ?
Wise decision IMHO.
You must know that here the term "rep" doesn't mean "republican" but "replica", don't you [emoji39]

It could be a good idea to get a DIY "gold" hansdet ... 5$ for a "gold" hairspray so money risk is low

Ah ah !!! Very good :)

I am worried that politics is over for me, my expensive suits and watches accepted as gifts have ruined my credibility, i'm lost my place as frontrunner in opinion polls after these revelations. Now, I have no other choice to go in rep world :)

In France 'We don't have oil, but we have ideas" Bart and also you prove that again !

You should have explained that your watches were Reps and that you bought your suits on AliE or TaoBao.
I'm quite certain that you could have been short-listed for the "Ministère de l'Europe et des Affaires Etrangères" ... as far as I know Emmanuel and Philippe are really open minded :hehehe:

I bought an electroplating kit.

What I thought ... you're a DIY man (and you do WELL indeed).

I really prefer the "copper" look which looks more vintage (I've done my homeworks and read the Mondani book) though they dont catch the light as well as the gold plated one (I should polish more and better).
But who knows ... I should try someday.
So as you have already wet your feets, would you share a link or at least give an advice for the kit ?

Do you remove the "chrome"plate first or have you been able to gold plate straight onto the hands?

I do not remember it at all. I had done this quickly by building my 6538. But it should work straight onto the hands.

Does the kit allow you to adjust the tone of the gold so you can achieve a range of tones from yellow through to rose gold?

I’m about half way through this thread, and I? also use Photoshop professionally. I’m curious about the decision to redraw vs using blend modes and levels adjustments on a high resolution photo of the desired dial... love this commitment though Bart, I? also sent you a PM re your 6610 case. Cheers!

Just for fun because I don't want to do my 5513 again

How does the decal paper stand up to printing different opacity of black? Another technique might be applying a radial gradient from 95-100% opacity, allowing some of the brass to peek through the black, to show as faded / brown.
