I am also looking for the burgundy strap but from the leg of the croco. Something like this:

The problem is nobody (strapmakers) can get this kind of skin and also in burgundy color.

I can make you an American alligator strap from the arm/elbow or any section you want. The elbow and arm are just hard to use since they are not straight flat pieces of leather. Black, honey brown, or dark brown are in stock. I can check on burgandy and get back to you if you are interested.

this is the section required

No strap of quality can be made in 30 mins, maybe something stitchless or if you have a sewing machine and other automated punch tools. It takes me about 1.5hr for a basic leather strap to 3-4 hours for exotic skin, padded, tapered with sewn in keepers. I do everything by hand, measure, cut, glue, hole punch, sew, edge finish etc..

I am NOT happy with my strap from Orloff straps Mario

I was prepared to pay first but he said i can pay afterwards. I said thats awesome and so i waited for my strap. Today it was completed. I asked for a Burgundy croc with burgundy stitching. Here are pictures of my strap.

My big problem with this strap is that he used a white/offwhite back leather? I asked orloff mario what is the material and color on the backside and he does not tell answer me?

The white/offwhite cream backside does not make any sense at all. Its so bright and does not match the burgundy. I saw his other customers burgundy croc strap and the backside was red. That makes much more sense or even use black or brown on the back side. Why use white? When i wear the watch, the tail tip that pokes out will show bright white. This is going to ruin the look of the burgundy because it does not match!

Heres picture of his customers croc with red back side. This looks so much better than white.

What do you guys think? Would you put a white backside on a burgundy strap? Makes no sense at all or am I wrong? Its like making a brown strap with a pink backside. It doesnt make any sense.

I wish orloff mario would tell me what color he would use on the backside. I figured it would be red on backside like his previous customers burgundy croc or black. I did not worry too much about it because i trusted him.

I even recommended people on the forums to orloff in private messages and to my friend locally who wants a croc strap as well.

hi
if you do not like the strap is not a problem.
I hope you can find a strap-maker that can meet your needs
greetings
Mario

I have no problems with his craftmanship. My problem is that he used white on the backside. Burgundy is a dark color strap. Now its a bright white color strap which ruins it!

I asked if he can make me a new burgundy croc with Red or black backside and he said he cant meet my requirements?

This just shows Orloff straps Mario does not care about his customers.

I am not here to waste his time, i was prepared to pay him first and also was planning to maybe buy 1-2 more straps afterwards.

Orloff Marios communication and customer service is not good. Does he care about his customers? I dont think so? Maybe other people had better luck with him but definitely did not treat me well.

What do you guys think?

Here's my Dirk Cognac 1994. It starts out as a nice tan color and quickly develops a rich patina.

Here are some images of gens with the same hide (far right and far left)

Here is the same leather on Dirk's personal 203A:

This is the same backing leather he used for all of my croc and ostrich straps, dark and bright colored.
Orloff did a custom strap for you, after having also sent you a sample of the leather and thread (something that does not happen so often in my experience), and he did not ask you to pay for it.
What else should one do to offer a service that's satisfactory enough for you mate?
I find your post a bit rude/unfair tbh.

On a lighter note hughesj, that dirk cognac is awesome! :)

Kilowattore, can you show me pictures of your croc and ostrich straps and pictures of the back with the same white back leather. What is the true color of it? The photo is pretty bright and it looks white/cream to me.

I feel he ruined my strap with the white back leather because when the tail tip pokes out while wearing, it will show white?? I really dont like that.

I did not ask about the back leather because i figure he would be using red because i saw it on his old customers burgundy crooc pictures. Or maybe even use a black. Black would make the most sense. WHy white? I am seriously not happy at all. I want to buy it, but why white?

Kilo, can you please show me pictures of your straps with same backing. I want to see what it really looks like. Also can you wear it and take picture of the tail tip so i see what the white looks like?

I might change my mind and buy it. I just wished it was done with black or red back piece. White just makes it ugly... on burgundy. :(

Im not trying to be rude but i wanted to say honestly how i feel. I was not trying to waste his time asking him to make me a strap. I was 100% sold but a white back piece does not make any sense at all. Its like making a black croc strap then putting white backpiece leather. Would you like that? Not me... Its the complete opposite in colors

I never asked about the backpiece color because i figure he would use RED like his previous customers burgundy croc strap or black, brown which make much more sense.

KIlo, hopefully i can see some pictures of your orloffs straps and maybe i will change my mind. Is there any way to darken the backpiece white leather?

thanks

Vvind, I'm not trying to convince you to buy the strap.
If you don't like it don't buy it, that's all.
Saying Orloff doesn't care about his customers is excessive imho.

Kilowattore,

Its frustrating because Orloff doesnt care to work out the problems with his customers. I spoke with peter from Gunny straps and he says you can put Mink oil or color dye to darken the back piece leather. If Orloff is willing to do this for me, i would buy the strap.

When i wear the strap, i have about 2.5cm of tail sticking out so it would show a lot of the light cream color backpiece. On your strap picture it shows about 1cm tail and its not that bad.

thanks again for pictures

Now waiting to see if Orloff will respond to email

Is there any way to darken the backpiece white leather?

It looks as if he/she used veg tan on the backside. It's not white, just natural color. It will patina over time and wearing it will do this. You could also put some leather conditioner (pecards is my fav) on it and then let it sit in the sun for a couple hours. This will darken it a good bit.

I am interested in what Orloff has to say. He/she was on the forum just today.

You are a joke. Why didn't you ask for the back to be red if you have seen so many examples? And if you say you assumed, then I'm sorry you live life believing in assumptions, this other straps were also CUSTOM, so the specs would definitely be different, you can't get what you don't ask for and what your asking is for someone to remake a strap with better direction provided by yourself.

Blackrose. You MAD?

I saw pictures of his burgundy croc straps and they had a red packpiece. Pretty sure i was going to get the same. It makes sense to use red because it matches or even black or brown. I would never expect to have a natural color on the back. When ordering the strap, orloff never mentioned anything about the backside and i almost forgot about it. I believed it would be the same as his other burgundy crocs with red backside.

The natural backside does not work for me, so i asked if he can remake me one. If not possible that is fine. So now i am asking if there is a way to treat the leather and make it a medium brown. I was also advised by Gunny straps that its possible to dye the leather or put mink oil.

If customer is not 100% happy with the final product, i believe the strap maker should listen to the customer and try to work something out together.

If Orloff is able to darken the backpiece leather i would buy the strap. It seems easy to do after talking to Gunny and also hearing from Tootall.

Thanks Tootall for the recommendation on pecards leather conditioner. I guess it works the same as mink oil?

Orloff is viewing this thread. Are you able to put leather conditioner on the backside and darken it for me? I am willing to buy the strap if you can do this for me.

No reply in email so i am writing here.

Thanks
