Not all of them do, but apparently there are a couple different gen dials out there, so it really isn't that big of a tell in my opinion FWIW

Yep, true.

Maybe so, but I still like a thin rim!

+1

Eg-zack-tlieee! It simply looks sh!te! I don't give a rat's ass about the rims accuracy wise, and in fact I've personally seen and/or handled a couple gens at the AD's windows that had thicker rims, misaligned cyclops & bezel inserts, and the like.

BUT: To my eye, the thicker rims (of course as well as misalinged insert, cyclops, date DWO etc.) destroy that typical Rolex-highest-quality-look of that watch - and of course it does that also on the gen! A flaw like that jumps into my face every time I look at the watch on my wrist -- of course nobody else will notice, or even could see that detail across the table even if they'd peek exactly for that. Hell, even I couldn't see that on table distance. But I DO see it all too well on my own wrist...

So, I would NEVER EVER accept a 7k gen, that would have such blatantly obvious flaws! And I wouldn't opt for a 300 bucks watch with those flaws either. Cumon, 300 bucks may seem not much money for "a 99% lookalike Rolex" -- but it IS 300 bucks! I can get a good couple of sweet candle light dinners with da missus for that. So, I MUST have a ton load of fun with the rep instead - which I don't, if it is flawed with unneccessary crap like the ugly thick rims, and the like.

(edit: bad typo)

I can't stand the thick rims! It completely ruins the watch for me. It is the single biggest flaw, screwing up the clean, modern look of the modern maxi dials, and distinguishing subs from cheaper dive watches based on the sub's design. It took years before there were finally reps with correct markers, with the BP and TC subs being one of few, so this is a major disappointment.

To each there own. Plenty of gen owners bought the 11610LV to get the maxi dial amd.swapped out the insert for black. I personally like the thicker marker surrounds. The thinner surrounds are nice too. I would be happy to own either version of the gen. The point for me, however, is that the V2 dial is an accurate copy of the first sub-c dial. To the extent there are flaws with the noob dial, those flaws should be determined.by comparing.it to the first sub-c "maxi“ dial. In the future they may avoid confusion by copyongg the current dial, but I wouldnt make that a priority. I hope they continue to sell well so we can finally get this purported new and improved insert.

I agree with you. They don't bother me either. In macro pictures they seem huge, but in real life (I have the BP and Noob V2), the Noob hour markers actually look "more right" to me. Don't know why but I think the BP may be a little too thin even compared to the current version wheras the Noob is at least accurate to some version.

I think "to each their own" is a fair bottom line.

The standing issue is, I believe, that GEN Subs now ALL have thin rims (that must have been an older gen), and as a result, I will want my rep to reflect that, and not just use up stock rims.

I see your point. I definitely think using the most current version to make the rep would solve a lot of these issues. All in all though, Rep owners are far more knowledgeable about tells than Gen owners. I have had several people, who own the gen, comment on my watch. All of them simply didn't believe me when I told them it was fake. The noob V2 passes the Gen feel test, flaws and all.

Using the BP markers on a noob v2 combined with the new insert whenever that comes will make a really nice rep. But at that point you could have bought a TC Sub.

He doesn't as far as I know, but I just mean from an accuracy standpoint.

I have to say that sometimes we are so anal its ridiculous. I know i know we can debate the concept of 1:1 over and over to ad nauseum, but as Wepii pointed out, we rep owners examine our watches significantly more than 'most' lets not say all gen owners.

and lets also not forget the wise words from years ago:

Now for a second imagine that from 4 ft away someone is going to call you out on the rim of the hour markers? Common guys get real. Just keep in mind the 99% rule and wear your watches with some dignity and people will not question you.

I just ordered the subc. While i am by no means a Rolex aficionado, i think the only tell or flaw worth mentioning is the lack of platinum color on the bezel. This is the flaw that would stand out the most from the furthest distance and that is exactly how most people see watches on our wrists.

We are not buying these to put on a pedestal and flaunt or show them off are we? No we wear them because they look amazing and are 1/25th the cost of the gen. How often is someone going to examine your watch with a loup to see if the f is right and if there is enough distance around the '=' sign. I dunno, perhaps some of the long time members will disagree with me as i have seen them pretty much stay quiet about the SubC. Of course there is hype around this watch its the SubC and of course their are plenty of flaws if we examine the whole watch under a microscope. But damn fellas, over the last few weeks i have seen members get into b*tch fights pissing away that bp sucks or that noob sucks. I am making any sense here? I hope i am not offending anyone but geez guys its a freaking rep. Buy it, wear it, and enjoy it. If you dont like it sell it ... but quit the b*tching.

Rant Over .....

Capt, do you really want to do this? If.you haven't done this before I am not sure you know what you are for. Swapping.markers is a tedious, monumental pain in the ass. The chances of you scratching.or damaging the dial are greater than.od.you gettkng it right if this is your first time. I you want a modder to do this for you, it will be expensive. If the surrounds bother you THAT much, you should aame you money or buy something else.

I am absolutely positive I want to do this!
I know what you are saying and am aware of the pain and risk, but after all, no pain, no gain.
If I f*ck it up too many times, I will just swap the whole dial for the BP.
The OFFICIALLYCERTIFIED bothers me far less than the rims.

I'm only saying that because before seeing the GEN, I thought my Noob was incredible.
I walked by the AD and it IMMEDIATELY struck me that the hour markers looked much bigger on the gen.

If I'm at dinner with someone and I look at their reps I can indeed spot the hour markers, but not the OFFICIALLYCERTIFIED

That aside, I just really like the thin rims!

What can I say, I'm a thin-rim kinda guy! :p
