Guys c'mon. Gold is a little darker than gen? Sure. Cheddar in need of replating? I don't think so.
Cost vs benefit. You will never see this without 10x magnification loupe. Not worth it to spend $50 extra for a 1% detail improvement.
IDK bro, even video can show unrealistic tones and light sources still play a large role. I can't watch the video as I don't install random apps but was this a side by side with a gen? With all due respect the pictures he shows doesn't show the real tale -- it's not hard to manipulate lighting sources (and images for that matter) to make tones look close to each other. Now look at the youku video in standard everyday lighting, the watch is pretty cheddary.
I still claim the rep is very well made, but constructive criticism is applicable - it can definitely use a replating. You can watch the youku vid on a browser sometime with adblock - you'll see how cheddary it is. The gen would not look that cheddary in any lighting -- this is just something reps have not nailed yet. I mean, even Ctime was courteous enough to say that he hasn't seen any rep factory get the plating right - and he's correct. It's just not there in the game yet. Now, will most people notice? Probably not, but if anyone handled the gen and knows their way around watches, the color will indeed still stick out like a sore thumb. But most people haven't handled gen and likely would not notice. But gold is not passable to people who know their way around a gen.IDK bro, even video can show unrealistic tones and light sources still play a large role. No other TD site has any images of the CLEAN posted but here's a comparison of the same APF model from two different TDs showing what lighting can do.
Ofc most sales presenters will try to show their products in the best way but I highly doubt @CTime did any image manipulation to only one object of two in so many pics. If we assume that, the CLEAN is certainly close enough in tone to the gen to satisfy many if not most of us.
Most people don't have the hyper critical eye that you and I do but where you differ some is your threshold of acceptance. Nothing wrong with that but it is a rep after all.
We'll have to wait and see once some folks get them in hand.
No it's the other model, but we can see how different the real gold color would beBut thats a oyster bracelet know isnt it? So it isnt actually the grey/black bezel one?
You can't use this picture, taken with a potato, as an example of colour accuracy - just look at the colour of the guys fingertips.
Bro I admit this does not look good.I still claim the rep is very well made, but constructive criticism is applicable - it can definitely use a replating. I mean the color difference is definitely there and is a very easy tell - it's just too damn yellow. The gen on the right would not look like the rep on the left in any lighting. If you handled a gen you'd notice the difference the second you laid eyes on it.

Here is the full gold version. If this doesn't encapsulate how cheddary the plating is I don't know what will. It's just not good.
