I just posted this on another older thread, but I am about to order a CFv3 116500 black. Does anyone know a TD that can also install the crystal for you at the time of the order? I know that deep xtal probably makes a massive difference and any suggestions are appreciated.
Steve did mine and it is perfect... steve_theonewatches

Late to the party on this thread! but just been looking at 116500ln's gens and have only just noticed the right hand side lugs are thinner, im guessing to make unwinding the pushers a little easier! Weird ive never noticed it before!

So for my 2 pence worth.

Thickness/height on wrist is a tell not to most but a watch nerd for sure the gen sits nicely and low on the wrist, this was the same as the older, and cheaper GMT's they tend to sit a liitle high on the writs and its only a little bit but does make a differnce to gen.

SEL and clasp are pretty good by all accounts on most of these now so not a big issue anymore.

The biggest thing on the white dial version is the dial colour, the clean often looks a bit anemic or has a blue hue to it, although as everyone say the crystal needs swapping out not sure if the crystal is the cause of the discolouring or if its the dial colour itself.

The white dial should be a crisp white that really stands out at you (Im think its the same as the Explorer white on gens so im guessing it the same colour used in reps.

The ceramic bezel can be a little dull on the print , but this could be solved with backfilling I guess, not sure why paint should dull so much, if its dirt then understandable, but maybe applying some ceramic style car wax when its new and then buffing out could help dulling maybe!

The clean looks to be the best on the cases and bezel out of the box the dial on the clean seem very good aside the tone of the white, has anyone changed the crystal on the clean and done a before an after under the same light shot to see if that makes any difference? Maybe any of you modders coudl give it a go? That said I dont think most are ever going to notice the slightly bluer white unless they were a watch dealer under really good light and had another as a reference, but a the wearer it might or mght not be an issue, (for me the main selling point of the white dial model is the white dial as it stands out over all the other balck dial models, same as the Polar 2 and day dates with white dials they just look special to me with clean (no pun) looks.

The hardest part of pulling of any Panda is the scarcity of them in the real world (probably far more reps than gens) even the most basic watch guy will probably of seen adverts for them on SM or the likes and will have seen the prices, even if they are not that into watches so will have an idea of value and anyone into watches will know the value and scarcity, that said though that could well be a saving grace at the same time as most wont of seen a gen on a wrist in the real world either to compare to and chances of standing in the pub next to someone with a gen on is like lottery odds even today!

Great initial write up, would be cool to see this as an updated thread where as new version come online they can be ben marked again.

As a side note I recenlty read that the only reason the Daytona doenst have a date is that when it was orignally first built, the Zenith movement had the date function but RO chose to remove it so to focus on being purely a timing tool for racing. They have still kept to that design ever since, it does make the watch look very clean as it does on the no date sub!
