The numbers font on the rep bezel insert looks "fatter" than on the gen bezel insert :(
Take a look at the 4 from the 40 for instance.

This is so damned ridiculously close.

Now the only thing holding me back from buying is the question of whether the bezel assembly is rubbish like the rest of Clean GMTs

Apparently the construction of the YM bezel is the same as that of GMT bezels.

I have a feeling this could be another lame duck release from Clean

Exciting to see how close Clean are getting the RG colour to gen, this is a good sign for those of us waiting for their 116515s to be released!

I will 100% be buying that RG YM when it's released.

I imagine the whole bezel assembly with be a bit crap like that are on their GMTs, hopefully I'm wrong but I wouldn't be surprised if they were.

Considering how good these are in comparison to others on the market though, this is an acceptable trade off and an issue that can be easily resolved by a decent modder.

I hadn't thought of that.
Considering how terrible Clean's GMT bezel action was and how greased up it was, it's something we may have to seriously consider on these yachtmaster releases.

could this be the lighting paired with a less sharp edge that makes it appear fatter?

the 10 and 20 looks better compared to the 40 where the light hits the rep quite in a different way

looking back through threads of previous ym reps from different factories there always seemed to be flaws when it comes to edges / finishing level on the bezel rather than the actual font thickness itself

Edges on rep insert markers & numbers are not as sharp as the gen ones, that's for sure - you can notice it even at looking at the tips of the triangular 12 marker, which are a little bit rounded instead of sharp pointed.
My professional deformation tells me that's because the tooling the bezel insert was made from was machined by milling, instead of wire erosion.
But, anyway, I still have the feeling the even the 5 minutes rectangular markers are fatter, on top of rounder 👀

yes youre right, those edges too. especially on older models it’s even worse so they got that better this time.

the edges i’m talking about are not the ones on the stroke of the font/markers though but rather the ones where the elevation turns into the surface if that makes sense.
This seems to be sharp on the gen (leaving always a sharp difference between throwing back light creating shadows)
the rep seems to have a rounder transition, hence reflecting the light less abruptly creating this fatter feel to the font.

Does anyone know if the RG on gen is as good as solid (non plated)? I know the gen Bluesy 116613LB was solid (or wrapped as some call it).
