What makes the most sense to me is that the metal ring would be fitted to the ceramic insert first. Probably a press fit with the ring flat on a bench and the ceramic pressed down from above. There might even be a very slight inward bevel from top to bottom in the ceramic to facilitate a safer and easier fitting. Once fitted, I think the combined unit would act just like a bare ceramic insert without any need for concern of the ring separating. So the combined part would then be pressed over the crystal gasket, and removing it would probably bring the crystal and crystal gasket along with it. Same as before, just a little added deco ring.Maybe a dumb question, but what is the bezel construction like. Is the metal ring a part of the insert? Or is the metal ring fused to the case and the insert is pressed into the opening of the metal ring?
