It is possible to make a 14060 for that budget but not with any viet pieces. The piece below was sold 400€

In the case of your 14060

The processing of the case alone must be a difficult task.

I am not a good metalworker, so I would like to choose a case with good shape from the beginning as much as possible (laughs).

I love all your builds. They have a quality that make them special. 🤗

In my case, I enjoy working metal and I also like to make cheap pieces. The watchmaking hobby is for me to relax. Expensive parts make me nervous 🤣

Expensive components make it look good.

But it is also fun to take the time and effort to create a watch like yours.

You will want metalworking skills and tools such as a lathe.

@trash3939

Thank you! I want either a 14060 or a late 5513 with glossy dial and applied indices. Both seem to be rather difficult or impossible to build.

I already read bad things about the 14060 Raffles case. The Sillian 16610 case with the Raffles dial seems to suffer from “short hands” due to the big dial. Is there any way around it (longer hands?)?

The AliX case – at 30 bucks I can’t imagine that thing putting a smile on my face next to my Lorier, Tissot, Certina, am I right? ; )

5513: The mid to late 80s model with glossy dial and applied indices – there is no way apart from a Gen dial, is that correct? Hmmmm….

@Karbon74

Thank you! That picture – did you build the watch or do you know what it is exactly? The pip seems off and part of the dial disappears under the rehaut, but I could live with that. What bugs me a little bit are the “short hands” not reaching the markers, just like the Sillian 16610 build. Is there a way around it (longer hands?)?

I see you’re from the EU and I have seen your cool builds in various threads. Do you happen to build watches for members by any chance? : )

Thank you guys!!

I built that watch indeed as a 1 year old modder who never even changed a quartz battery before.
The pip is part of the cousinsuk 14060 insert
The dial is Raffles and the case is a 50€ AliX that I reshaped
The hands are also Raffles. I will take a note and buy longer hands next times ! Raffles have that
I am not a 14060 expert and should have done better research 🧐

The objective was to make a 14060 where the case, bezel, insert and crystal were as close as I could to gen dimensions, and deliver a package that’s affordable. This is a 400€ watch including my labor. It is imperfect but on wrist it’s pretty

I do sell my work but I usually do not take commissions. I make exceptions for second time buyers and members who I talk to a lot.

It is difficult to make the 14060 or 5513 late rimmed that you want to make.
(1) The only replica 14060 dials available today are Raffles.
Two types: 28mm swiss made and 28.5mm T-25.
(2) I have only seen late 5513 rimmed dials that cost as much as $350 for a replica.

In my personal opinion, if you want to make a good inexpensive one
I would like to make a 5513 with a drvintage 5513 case and a Bi vintage dial, VR3130.

This would be a good one on your budget.

100% agree
A cheaper option is to mod a JKF 5513 but it’s a lot of work again to make it decent

I also processed JKF's 5513.

I had a hard time because I am not as good at metalworking as you are.

Now drvitage has created a 5513 case and I would like to use this case.

Thank you guys! So much precious info!
Karbon74, I like your 14060.
Right now I'm gravitating towards the recommendation of building a 5513.
Maybe putting a 14060 build as a second project in the future.
Thanks again!

I also started with JKF 5513 as my first project

Have you tried putting the longer hands on this build? I’m thinking of trying the raffles Eta hands and if the tolerances are crap on the eta, it should be possible to put minute hands without it slipping on the NH3x.

I can’t unsee the shorter hands on my build and as it’s my first, someone with more experience might have tried something already :) maybe putting ETA in AliX NH35 case?

While I’m at it, do you (or someone else for that matter) know where I can source a 14060 pearl to mod into the cousins insert?

The build is sold and has already changed hands several times.

The Raffles longer hands should be compatible. Just ask Ken for a Nh35 set. I am sure he will be accommodating for the seconds hand, hours and minutes are same dimensions between 28xx and NH38

About the pearl, maybe Lobtime

Recently put in an order with Ken an asked for the longer NH35 set - sadly he said he didn’t have them.

TC look like they have NH35 vintage hands, would they be a decent substitute?

Looking forward to getting my hands dirty with an AliX 14060 build in a few weeks time.
